Louvin Brothers "The Family Who Prays"
I will represent for the second Rhino doowop box set, it is great.
I also enjoy the work of Moondog and Harry Partch from this decade.

the Chordettes (altho not sure what album to recommend - albums were not really central to the pop music format in the 50s, which makes this thread kinda problematic)

the 1950s are my favourite decade music-wise. guitar-wise i consider it the apex of creativity, despite all the innovation i don't know that we've ever actually surpassed the levels of musical greatness created during that decade.

This one is one of the finest vocal jazz albums of all time. Vaughan's singing is out of this world.

I guess this is kinda obvious, but it's still a brilliant album. Both Brubeck and Desmond have a sound that's among the prettiest in jazz. I could listen to first two minutes of "Strange Meadow Lark" again and again.

This is one of my favourite box sets ever: it collects pretty much everything Dean Martin released between 1946 and 1955. Dino's voice was one of kind: even the throaway novelty tunes are made interesting by the detached coolness he oozes.

This is basically just four extended percussion jams, I guess it's not considered a classic among Blakey's albums, but it's loads of fun.
