Michael Jackson - Man In The Mirror

??? Did this get back on the charts because MJ died? Why this particular single?

Tuomas, Tuesday, 22 December 2009 12:23 (fifteen years ago)

yes, and...i don't think anyone worked out why.

Some real crackers here: Kid Cudi, Taylor Swift, Jay-Z and Rihanna are all superb. Affection also for The Noisettes, La Roux and Mr Hudson.

It's between "Day 'N' Nite" and "Russian Roulette".

"Russian Roulette" gets it.

I think "Man of the Mirror" was chosen cos it had that introspective/retrospective vibe to it but still upbeat enough to not be purely maudlin plus it's from his most commercially successful era.

I will vote La Roux here because although I get why so many peeps hate it I think it's a good record, in its slightly brutal strident shrieky way, plus I make a point of never watching or reading interviews with pop stars.

don't like any of these more than some of the #1s except Day n' Nite but that's an 08 song to me so abstein (or reluctantly vote La Roux for the passable Skream mix)

Although it is an old one, voting Michael Jackson because it's one of his best ever songs.

La Roux and Robbie Williams also gr8.

Why this particular single?

It did very well here too. Probably because it wasn't all that much of a huge hit back then. It was a US #1, but the more sales oriented European hitlists didn't make it that much of a big hit, because most people already had the "Bad" album anyway.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

i get anyone disliking it but "man in the mirror" is my fave, too. the verse melody is so extended, just goes on and on without repeating then breaks into the chorus effortlessly over a sweet bass-line.
