I really like "I Know You Want Me". I really liked the sped-up version of "Party in the USA" that was playing in the pub on Saturday but I think I'll vote for Pitbull here.

Either Swift or Gaga. As recently as a week ago, I'd have said Swift, but "Bad Romance" is really growing on me.

"Bad Romance" is ur-Gaga, and Gaga is ur-2009, so I'm going with that. I'm the other ladies too, the men less so (Ke$sha has grown on me, though "Tik Tok" melds with "Just Dance" in my head the way "Bad Romance" and "Poker Face" combine.

the fallacy with this argument (like the old trope that you have to be high and dancing to get techno) is that if you're dancing with someone you just met and will probably fuck, MOST songs will sound like the best thing ever.

Blame It, just over Best I Ever Had. It is hard to believe Blame It wasn't a #1, as I kind of think of that as THE 2009 song, or at least the 2009 summer song.

i like all of these songs except 'run this town' and 'tik tok.' i voted for 'party in the usa' cause it's freshest in my heart, but 'you belong with me' deserves the win over 'bad romance' if that's what it'll come down to.

haha faction. i dunno, it felt like overkill at the end of an album that covered the same thematic territory on other songs, and it seems like a dreary choice of a single that just happened to have a big star on it. i feel like if someone sang that at karaoke they'd be trying to bum everybody out.

See, the copy I downloaded in October 2008 had the sequence reversed, so I heard "Dead and Gone" first; naturally, it sounded fantastic.

You guys aren't wrong about the self-pity btw, but Justin's vocal -- the tone is something he's never attempted, and I wish he did more often instead of the falsetto -- overcomes my objections.

yeah it's prob one of justin's finest ever vocals, and i found it a lot more anthemic as a single than at the end of a whole album along the same theme

plus it has a special place in my heart cuz i was on the set of the video, so it always brings back memories of being dressed for warm desert weather, freezing/drowning in freak torrential rains and sheltering in justin's trailer, on justin's bed
