It does sort of put me in mind of Jello Biafra suggesting that the Sex Pistols failed to fuck the game up to the extent people made out, due to writing actual songs with discernible tunes - ie the song is pretty comedically bad sure, but significantly worse than a bunch of late 90s chart pop penned with a straight face, idk

In my opinion the follow up 'True To Us' was a much better showcase for the ladies talents...sounds like The Raincoats 2nd album...

This reminds me of spending hours smoking weed and watching The Box with my friends.

It's not the most half-assed hit single ever. There is at least an attempt at a hook. And its comedy value renders it more enjoyable than many less overtly naff songs.

Wasn't its getting to No.14 also due to a campaign by The Big Breakfast or something rather than people buying it based on its own merits?
