Michael Stanley Band My town

Never heard this.

I reread his "True Blue" blurb not long ago, and am still no fan (of the song).

Hell is other people. In an ILE film forum. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 31 December 2009 19:52 (fifteen years ago)

Of all the great Van Morrison songs, he chooses Wavelength? Barf out.

It's between Maggie Mae, Help or Please Please Please. Hmmmmmmm

Actually I've always liked "Wavelength", a good forgotten Van song. Otherwise, this is indeed getting tough. Race between Rod, Harold Melvin, Miracles and for later stuff Mellencamp. But "Maggie May" gets my vote for the mandolin solo alone.

IT'S LIKE THAT AND THAT'S THE WAY IT IS

1. "Who Do You Love," 2. "Maggie May," 3. "Help," 4. "Having a Party." I'll have to track down Nathaniel Mayer--haven't hear of either the song or him.

there's still another VMo song coming up at #197

prob. "Maggie May" for me but "Having A Party" is close, as is "If you don't know me by now".

I voted for "Sherry," the finest moment in an overrated oeuvre.

257 1967 Miracles I second that emotion

blame it on the acoleuthic (Curt1s Stephens), Sunday, 3 January 2010 00:32 (fifteen years ago)

More than Van Morrison, I'm wondering if this is the highest (and probably only) Rod Stewart song. I can't see Marsh picking anything higher, even though I can think of at least four I'd place above "Maggie May" (all 72 and earlier). If I'm right, #256 seems very wrong.

clemenza, Sunday, 3 January 2010 01:05 (fifteen years ago)

yep, that's the only Rod

Dinosauciers (los blue jeans), Sunday, 3 January 2010 01:07 (fifteen years ago)

Wavelength is great.

Mark, Sunday, 3 January 2010 01:09 (fifteen years ago)

Ouch--no "Gasoline Alley," no "Mandolin Wind," no "Every Picture Tells a Story," no "Handbags and Gladrags," no "You Wear It Well." Except for the last, I'm not sure if any of them were singles. But ouch anyway.

clemenza, Sunday, 3 January 2010 01:35 (fifteen years ago)

Bo, not even close.

if I don't see more dissent, I'm going to have to check myself in (Matos W.K.), Sunday, 3 January 2010 06:31 (fifteen years ago)

yeah, there's a bunch of good songs on this list but only one of them oozed out of a dimensional portal from a world where papa legba replaced jhvh in the supernatural sweeps

Dinosauciers (los blue jeans), Sunday, 3 January 2010 06:36 (fifteen years ago)

"Maggie May," handily.
