Kaos Theory 2 defined my musical tastes in 1992

Yeah I was an American diving into all kinds of breakbeat ravey stuff etc etc. I never actually owned a copy of this; that honor goes to the esteemed jjjusten, who IIRC skipped half of the tracks at the end of the album and didn't realize, for example, the "Charley"-inspired mania it morphed into because the chirping seagull noises made him think it was just an annoying hippie song.

Anyway I think every single track here is fucking stunning. Which is your favorite?

i have this uh somewhere in my piles of cds, so ill listen to it again before i vote. weird urge to vote for Run Tings, but the Blame track and the Kid Unknown ones were also great so who knows?

Phuture Assassins very closely over "Temple of Dreams." I used to see this album for like $30 in Northern Lights and salivate over it, along with all those Red, Hot & White comps, all of which I later got from the Tower closing sale for like $4 each. Sigh.

Hell yeah! Kaos Theory 1, 2 & 3 were my proper introduction to hardcore. I still remember sitting around a boombox with my friends and listening to Krome & Time's "This Sound is for the Underground" on KT 3, and being like, "this is the shit!" And KT 1 had this classic:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6nzsNDHP8E

Tuomas, Friday, 8 January 2010 22:18 (sixteen years ago)

I remember at the time not getting KT1 because of the track overlap on XL 3.

What a stupid decision that was.

ah ah oh ooh ooh oh ah ah ah ah ah oh ah ah aha ooh (HI DERE), Friday, 8 January 2010 22:27 (sixteen years ago)

Holy shit, this tune on KT3 is bringing back memories:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiDzeDuG7cI

So ridiculous, so awesome! Too bad back in 1992 I was 13, and couldn't go to clubs to actually dance to this stuff. When I did start to go to clubs it had already morphed to D&B, which was cool for the time, but in retrospect not half as fun as this shit!

Tuomas, Friday, 8 January 2010 22:32 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah it's kind of sacrilege but I feel the same way.

Although the cusp between hardcore and jungle that was all over 1993 and best represented by the first 3 Speed Limit 140+ BPM comps... THAT was really my sweet spot.

ah ah oh ooh ooh oh ah ah ah ah ah oh ah ah aha ooh (HI DERE), Friday, 8 January 2010 22:35 (sixteen years ago)

My guesses:

5. Smart E's - Sesame's Treet (12" version)
10. Alpha Team - Go Speed Go (club mix)

ps you are so wrong about the "generic house" bits of "It's Just a Feeling", the whole point of the song is the ping-ponging back and forth between the house part and the mentasm part

however you are so so right about Ascendent Masters
