hes never been an albums artist for me aside from the 2nd one.

ok new poll question and poll options

The "Why I Don't Care About REDMAN" poll

  • I'm a tightass
  • I know Redman from his association with wu-tang
  • I was 8 years old when muddy waters came out
  • when Muddy Waters came out I was listening to Moxy Fruvous and They Might Be Giants
  • the guy from the Method Man at Harvard movie?
  • not enough wu-tang for me in this poll
  • the funk is too abstract

i guess my original idea of Redman vs Reggie Noble vs Uncle Quilly would have flopped ever worse

I remember Redman from Lollapalooza in 1995. He was on the second stage, leading the crowd in a chant of "fuck you Redman" for at least 20 minutes while I was on line for a burrito. Quite possibly the longest 20 minutes of my life.

Everything the guy recorded is gold in my boo. Few rappers have been as consistent (or at least as consistently entertaining and enthusiastic). If you haven't already, check out Blackout 2 with Method Man. It's even better than the first one and probably the most fun rap record of 2009. Not bad for a guy well past his commercial prime.

Redman/Eric Sermon was the first gig I ever went to. And De La Soul were there, although they were just joking about on stage and didn't join in and do Oooh or anything. Was fucking mental though for my 15y/o self just jumping around like a motherfucker, rapping along to every line and making my sister's fiance laugh with(at?) me, surprised at how well I knew the rap music.

He also took me to see KRS a year after that for his first show in England in something stupid like 15 yrs.

Still don't think I've seen a place go as mental as when he dropped this
