A top five in the UK that I could not sing you a single bit of!

1 Iyaz - Replay
2 Owl City - Fireflies
3 Sidney Samson - Riverside
4 3OH!3 - Starstruck
5 Glee Cast - Don't Stop Believin'

I've heard them, I'm sure. It doesn't help that I always thought the Journey song went "Don't stop believin' that you're someone, don't stop believen you're not just anyone..."

what you need to rectify this problem is a thousand hugs from ten thousand lightning bugs

I hadn't heard 'Replay' or 'Riverside' before checking them out just now, and I do believe I could have done without them. I gotta feeling that this year's gonna be a good year.

I saw a news story that the show "Glee" is now responsible for 7 new entries into the chart, all of which are so-so cover versions of Cowellfodder.

Last week's top 3 of Iyaz, Samson and 3OH!3 was the first time in some 25 years i hadn't heard any of the top 3. unfortunately i have heard Owl City and DSB altho not the Glee version.

not very interesting or important tho as was obv bound to happen eventually and more likely in january than any other month

ie 'it's finally happened'. well, so what? or, what now?

mdskltr (blueski), Monday, 18 January 2010 15:13 (sixteen years ago)

would suggest making this a general rolling 2010s UK chart-based discus thread anyway

The Glee songs I've heard were good cover versions of popular songs but maybe there is a different Glee.

Well, as I say, I haven't heard them.

If all the top shows were even half as witty and funny as Glee, maybe our species wouldn't be quite so doomed.

Oh dear. I've been reading the atrocity threads thinking 3oh!3 were some kind of cult phenomenon restricted to a small subset of American myspace users, and am pretty surprised to learn they've been top 5 in the UK this week and last week. So that's how out of touch I am.

I liked being out of touch better, I think.

they're only up there because of katy perry, much like plan b only being in this week's top 10 because of pendulum (i strongly suspect)

they're only up there because of katy perry,

oooh it's that track.
was going to add my 'me too' to the thread, but that little nugget blew such a chance away as i saw this video on up your viva (!!) video channel yesterday.

I like that Iyaz song. Something about shawty having a melody in my head and an ipod something something.

Checked out the Iyaz on yt after not knowing what it was (not sure on the others either, but don't care.) It's alright but I'm sure I'll forget it in a minute. The comments are suitably odd though:
