Killing Joke 13: Feast Of Fools (New Album Thread)

Do you know what? I've just opened the Pandora's box of putting "Killing Joke" into the ILM search function and came to the conclusion that a, life's too short to figure out which is the right thread to post this in; b, even if it weren't too short some kind of catastrophic Being John Malkovich/Event Horizon event might unfold if I pick the wrong one and c, there's obviously a lot of KJ love on here - so sue me.

I met Jaz and Youth on Xmas Eve to listen to new tracks from the new album. As much as this constitutes spam, I thought Joke fans would want to read about a new song based on an ABBA loop and how the original line up have been getting on.

The new EP, "In Excelsis" is out but I'm sure not paying 25 pounds for vinyl I don't want! And it's on Amazon UK in digital format but not on Amazon US. Annoying.

Any idea if this will be released on iTunes in America? The band's website mentions iTunes as a format, but it certainly isn't showing up over here yet.

No other thoughts on the new EP? Really? It's an interesting amalgam of recent material with a bit of return to a more 'singing' style for Jaz. I like.

Goddamn, "Honour The Fire" gives me goosebumps. Literally. This might be the one song to be played at my funeral. Seriously. What a monster this album is!

"The Raven King," "Here Comes the Singularity" and "The Great Cull" are all entirely perfect. "This World Hell" and -- sadly -- "Honour the Fire" don't do it for me.

I agree entirely - except "Honour The Fire"! Wow, that one really blows me away. What's missing for you? Frankly everytime I've listened to this album it's gotten better for me.

"Honor the Fire" just hasn't sunk in for -- likewise "This World Hell" (which is stymied by its chorus). Love Love Love everything else on the record, tho'. Very excited to hear it performed live.

Jeff T. gave it the seal of approval in conversation yesterday as well (the album, not any song in particular). Will investigate.

"This World Hell" is the one I like best, stymied by some others, like "In Excelsis". I don't think I'll end up liking it as much as the last two, but it's got a of good stuff.

if I'm a debut/What's THIS For...! purist am I going to be moved by this record?

This album has gotten better over time, astonishingly great. I find something to love in all their albums but, goddamn, has an original-lineup-reunion album ever been so good?

They're incredibly good live. Been to see them four times with the current line up.
