finally getting into "Exhibit C" in more than an abstracted "this is good, but I don't feel like listening to it" way

I'd completely avoided him purely on the basis of his name but Exhibit C is really great, last verse especially.

the production on 'victory' is a lot more novel and interesting in its use of melodies than i first noticed. i'll probably love it soon.

finally got around to the Victory mixtape and it is officially dope as fuck

like the mos def verse cut from a shade 45 exclusive snippet & google eyes live & some features were submitted by the artist? and after releasing everything for free for three years he puts "exhibit C" on itunes and then puts it on a mixtape while it's still troubling the itunes charts, with just blaze going ham on nahright for putting up the mp3? and for his first sanctioned mixtape ever he picks some no-marks and never mentions it anywhere?

i don't make a huge distinction between mixtapes and albums in rap these days, especially ones like 'victory,' (no dj drops, from what i can tell nearly all original beats, high quality throughout). doesn't bug me that it isn't tagged or the tracks don't have names, either.

so yeah... roc nation... shiny suit theory...etc.

i haven't really followed this whole 'controversy' but just vaguely hearing about it indirectly is kind of hilarious, like people are pissed about this?

Only just learned that this existed, wild that it finally came out at all. Giving it a listen now.

So far this sounds p much exactly what I'd expect a Jay Electronica record to sound like, which is good, and also it sounds like it could just as easily have been made 10 years ago. Also weird how much Jay-Z is on this.

As far as all the NOI stuff, I have complicated feelings about it, as I always have. I've been harassed by NOI members, told I wasn't a real Jew, etc. I don't like it but it also isn't a threat to me.
