future of the left. in the end, everybody wins

kamerad, Saturday, 30 January 2010 01:02 (sixteen years ago)

As fantastic as the newest Future of the Left is, this is still Mclusky for me.

you gone float up with it (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Saturday, 30 January 2010 01:12 (sixteen years ago)

leaning towards FOTL, but the fact that "she will only bring you happiness" is prob my most legitimate favorite song of all time is making that difficult

rhea perlman is "horrible" (jjjusten), Saturday, 30 January 2010 01:16 (sixteen years ago)

Awww, man. Will prolly take "Arming Eritrea" over any single McLusky song, and FotL were prolly a bit better live comparing the 1 time I've seen each.

On the other hand McLusky Do Dallas is prolly my fav album of the last decade.

Will have to think about this one.

i hate to keep piling the abuse on old SAUM, but how dumb do you think that dude feels every time he hears the new FOTL

I just ran into that dude's ex gf on the street </news u can use>

Dean GAPDY (DJ Mencap), Saturday, 30 January 2010 12:40 (sixteen years ago)

I saw FOTL play on Thursday night as well, lots of fun as per - they got dropped from 4AD so are sort of fatalistic about the band right now, I think it will be OK but they are not planning to do anything except write songs until the summer as it stands

Dean GAPDY (DJ Mencap), Saturday, 30 January 2010 12:42 (sixteen years ago)

beatles vs wings vs ringo all starr band

aarrissi-a-roni, Saturday, 30 January 2010 16:03 (sixteen years ago)

congratulations (n/a), Saturday, 30 January 2010 16:08 (sixteen years ago)

No, YOU'RE a disgusting savage (Scik Mouthy), Saturday, 30 January 2010 17:31 (sixteen years ago)

Giorgio Marauder (I eat cannibals), Saturday, 30 January 2010 20:24 (sixteen years ago)

Jouster, Sunday, 31 January 2010 10:21 (sixteen years ago)

FOTL is pretty good, but really??? How is this even a question??!?

Fetchboy, Sunday, 31 January 2010 10:33 (sixteen years ago)

yah this isnt even a q. imo

plaxico (I know, right?), Sunday, 31 January 2010 11:36 (sixteen years ago)

dallas > travels > curses > sadness > difference, imo.

the answer is really "whichever one i'm listening to at the time", their standout moments are equally towering... mclusky might just have the edge with their bilious humour, fotl play it just a little straighter.

take me to your lemur (ledge), Sunday, 31 January 2010 11:41 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, that album ranking looks about right. I think it's mclusky for me, but I will probably forget to vote as usual.

Diamanti Gallas (aldo), Sunday, 31 January 2010 12:07 (sixteen years ago)

Not are SAUM pretty average to begin with, for the local offshoot here the d00d hired two of the lamest rock scenester clowns to be the backing band.

mclusky obvs, anyone who disagrees needs to hear 'Date Celebrities Or Die' which unfortunately couldn't be released on the mcluskyism box.

Department of Epidemic Prevention and Water Purification (S-), Monday, 1 February 2010 02:58 (sixteen years ago)

u guys they're the same band they just changed the name dont u know

samosa gibreel, Monday, 1 February 2010 03:04 (sixteen years ago)

^^ pretty sure falkous isn't in SAUM, pretty sure chapple isn't in FOTL.

Department of Epidemic Prevention and Water Purification (S-), Monday, 1 February 2010 03:08 (sixteen years ago)

i meant mclusky and fotl fwiw

samosa gibreel, Monday, 1 February 2010 03:33 (sixteen years ago)

nope. mclusky and fotl of the left are totally different deals, who gives a fuck about the personnel. both are great, but this shit is way different. listening to curses right now and wondering why i didnt give this more of a chance. WAVE WAVE WAVE I DONT WANNA WAVE WAVE I DONT WAVE WAVE I DONT WANNA WAVE AT THEM.

fucking rock.

I AM ENJOY TO PARTY? (jjjusten), Saturday, 6 February 2010 07:26 (fifteen years ago)

Love 'em both, but FOTL is what we should play for aliens when they come to earth and ask what rock music is.

kate78, Saturday, 6 February 2010 08:21 (fifteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Sunday, 14 February 2010 00:01 (fifteen years ago)

Am abstaining. If I'd thought about it I'd have voted FOTL from work and Mclusky from home.

take me to your lemur (ledge), Sunday, 14 February 2010 22:46 (fifteen years ago)

FOTL >>>>>>>>>>>>> McClusky

Someone got a LOL

Ned Raggett, Monday, 15 February 2010 00:13 (fifteen years ago)

five years pass...

the new Christian Fitness (Falco solo, basically), Love Letters in the Age of Steam is fucking great, thus further complicating matters. especially recommended if you have a soft spot for lo-fi-er, early Mclusky.

the naive cockney chorus (Simon H.), Saturday, 19 September 2015 01:36 (ten years ago)

eight years pass...

was listening to mclusky at the gym yesterday and then shifted over to future of the left and i forgot how amazing those first two FOTL albums are - wall to wall hits. i might put them ahead of the mclusky albums that aren't "do dallas"
