Miles Kurosky announced that his first solo album, titled The Desert of Shallow Effects, is set to be released on March 9, 2010 via Majordomo Records, an imprint of Shout! Factory. Produced by Kurosky and engineered by former Beulah member Eli Crews (Deerhoof, Why?), The Desert of Shallow Effects is a meticulously crafted, ambitious gem, utilizing a cast of more than two dozen musicians (among them several ex-Beulah members) playing a vast array of instruments. "When I wrote lyrics before, for Beulah, they were of an esoteric nature, but this time, I wanted them to read like stories," says Kurosky of the compositions that populate The Desert of Shallow Effects.

my friends are touring in this band (pat and eli, who were also in beulah there at the end) and I think it's going to be great. they've been looking for local horn players for each stop, I think Miles put this on facebook, so if you're a horn player and live somewhere they are playing on this tour, let him know. unfortunately I'm actually probably going to miss their show in SF because I have practice that night.

I think I'm gonna miss the DC show next Wednesday. Will have to spread the word about horns.
