A tad late, as it happened on 2. December, but I actually didn't know until I read it in Classic Rock Prog, and it seems there is no obit thread on ILM either.
I know his music was an aquired taste, but I still think at least what he did until around 1980 was brilliant. Alan Parsons Project (which was Woolfson's project probably to an even bigger extent than Parsons') would later turn a bit too AOR for its own good, but still left behind a strand of great 70s concept albums. Also notable for being the only act I know whose entire album catalogue consisted of concept albums.
R.I.P anyway. At times a great songwriter. And his characteristic voice was sort of the glue that would glue together APP with all those guest singers.
