Freddy 'The Wonder Chicken' (Gukbe), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 00:30 (fifteen years ago)

I've heard half of these but the remix of Sweet Cow by Chicken Lips is my favourite Lindstrom thing. Anything else I've heard doesn't quite measure up.

everything, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 00:32 (fifteen years ago)

i have to think about this

max, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 00:35 (fifteen years ago)

I've gotta go with Reinterpretations. The first LP close behind.

van smack, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 02:51 (fifteen years ago)

which first LP?!

you live in a space battle homo cave (sic), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 03:01 (fifteen years ago)

i feel space, another station, and contemporary fix push feedelity affair ahead for me.

mizzell, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 03:06 (fifteen years ago)

which first LP?!

The self-titled lp

van smack, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 03:16 (fifteen years ago)

where you go i go because it the music version of a michael mann film shot in video

nagl wayne (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 03:17 (fifteen years ago)

Annoying problem with Feedelity Affair is that the I Feel Space is edited down. It shouldn't bother me, but it does.

Freddy 'The Wonder Chicken' (Gukbe), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 03:31 (fifteen years ago)

L&P S/T all the way for me.

Michael F Gill, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 04:51 (fifteen years ago)

Yep The self titled one is still my favorite.

Jacob Sanders, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 05:15 (fifteen years ago)

WYGIGT apart, i'd ideally just. like to pick 3-4 tracks from each. i guess feedelity affair takes it, though it feels like cheating a bit b/c it was a compilation of singles...so i might vote for real life is no cool.

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 09:03 (fifteen years ago)

this poll is too soon - the solo Prins Thomas album has yet to come out and it's a major contender!

mikebee (BATTAGS), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 10:20 (fifteen years ago)

wot no Major Swellings?

fisherspwner (braveclub), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 11:13 (fifteen years ago)

I've only got 'Where you go I go too' which I picked up after someone told me they thought it sounded a bit Neu! and Krautrock-ish. Can't say I really felt that myself, maybe a wee bit Cluster like but the record never really clicked with me. Need to go back and give it another blast.

AnotherDeadHero, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 11:57 (fifteen years ago)

Feedelity is £7 in the Fopp near Covent Garden, so I just bought it.

No, YOU'RE a disgusting savage (Scik Mouthy), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 12:02 (fifteen years ago)

To hell with it I decided to be a neophyte and vote for Real Life... (not heard the s/t though)

Originoo Golf Clappaz (DJ Mencap), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 12:18 (fifteen years ago)

so hard to choose because you get such different things out of every one of these albums!!

max, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 12:25 (fifteen years ago)

I've not heard #2 and #3 on the list, but know all the others very well. Has to be WYGIGT, which easily made my Top 10 of the last decade.

mike t-diva, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 13:47 (fifteen years ago)

My heart says WYGIGT but my feet say Real Life Is No Cool, which is probably my #1 of 2010 so far and I've been spinning endlessly and loving the fuck out of. I voted for the latter (WYGIGT will probably win anyway).

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 16:01 (fifteen years ago)

wot no Major Swellings?
^this

In it's absence, Feedelity Affair gets the nod

(Odd that the PT solo LP is being promoted as his "debut" too.)

Jeff W, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 17:05 (fifteen years ago)

*its, ugh

Jeff W, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 17:06 (fifteen years ago)

i thought major swellings was PT only? no lindstrøm?

max, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 17:07 (fifteen years ago)

oops, OK carry on

Well someone reads Pfork in his spare time:

One of the songs I've been listening to a lot is "Lovesick Teenagers" by Bear in Heaven.

"Deadbeat Summer" by Neon Indian is really good.

Chris Bell: "I Am the Cosmos".

Bitte Orca was probably the best album of last year.

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 17:21 (fifteen years ago)

probably no way he would have heard of big star if it werent for pitchfork

max, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 17:27 (fifteen years ago)

After I got the iPhone, I tried a few apps, and I have to admit that Ice Age is really entertaining. I don't know how to describe it-- you have to think logically and find nuts everywhere-- I don't know what to compare it with, because I haven't played any other games, but you should check it out. It's really cheap and a lot of fun for the money.

the image of lindstrom playing Ice Age on his iPhone searching logically for nuts is pretty LOL

!aNiMeGaLaXy (Future_Perfect), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 18:24 (fifteen years ago)

probably no way he would have heard of big star if it werent for pitchfork

Well, the Chris Bell album did receive a really prominent Pfork review mid-to-late last year, along with Neon Indian, Bear in Heaven and Dirty Projectors.

Just saying!

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 19:04 (fifteen years ago)

only heard real life is no cool & 'I feel space' so voting's easy

dnw (cozen), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 19:14 (fifteen years ago)

i'm going w/II... i dig everything here but II is everflowing ice cold sparkling water

guammls (QE II), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 19:15 (fifteen years ago)

voted Lindstrøm & Chris Bell - The Cosmos Are No Cool

!aNiMeGaLaXy (Future_Perfect), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 19:22 (fifteen years ago)

Jesus does every ILM thread have to turn into a discussion about fucking Pitchfork these days?

Voted WYGIGT, incidentally. All the others have their amazing moments, that one is pretty much nothing but amazing moments.

Space Battle Rothko (Matt DC), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 19:29 (fifteen years ago)

voted Reinterpretations. Played L&PT, II and Reinterpretations on a road trip last summer and preferred the remix album. Real Life is easily my least favorite full length by either Lindstrom or Prins Thomas. It's basically another 'Feedelity Affair' but this time it's a 'Christabelle Affair' with a couple throwaway tracks tossed in with single edits. Very poor if you had been following Lindstrom's singles the last 3 years.

brotherlovesdub, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 19:59 (fifteen years ago)

this is a hard choice! if we're going on number of spins, i think real life is no cool would win. i still love ii, but after a while those weird recording fidelity issues started to bother me (plus this new pt solo record kinda perfects what they were going for there imo). reintepretations was also really great, and so was wygigt, so i guess it's time to dig those out again and reassess

psychgawsple, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 20:09 (fifteen years ago)

was going to break this down based on what drug is best for each of these albums but the fact is, weed is basically the best intoxicant across all of them

max, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 21:16 (fifteen years ago)

Not for Where You Go I Go Too.

Lusty Mo Frazier (jaymc), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 21:18 (fifteen years ago)

yes

max, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 21:18 (fifteen years ago)

There's something about WYGIGT that kind of fucks with my high -- it's too clinical and relentless, not relaxed enough.

Lusty Mo Frazier (jaymc), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 21:35 (fifteen years ago)

endless shimmering walls of astral dust passing by as i move thru a wormhole on my ice tram

max, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 21:48 (fifteen years ago)

god thru a party and used the orion nebula as a fog machine

max, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 21:49 (fifteen years ago)

"Where You Go I Go Too" was just fantastic, and even though I love the effort with Christabelle as well, there's still no competition here.

His efforts with Prins Thomas are IMO weaker, a bit too 70s disco sounding and not with the same wonderful highly electronic sound.

Tied Up In Geir (Geir Hongro), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 23:38 (fifteen years ago)

reinterpretations>II>&christabelle>rest

plaxico (I know, right?), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 23:45 (fifteen years ago)

maybe II first tho

plaxico (I know, right?), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 23:45 (fifteen years ago)

i'm biased against weed but it is so not the best drug for lindstrøm anyway

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Thursday, 18 February 2010 00:29 (fifteen years ago)

Lusty Mo, that's why it's so good.

skip, Thursday, 18 February 2010 04:44 (fifteen years ago)

The single I've played the most has been Mighty Girl, which makes Reinterpretations a big maybe for me. Can't wait to hear a solo Prins Thomas. I haven't listened to Major Swellings in a few years, but it never impressed me much. I would like more solo music from P. Thomas, other than remixes and Major swellings; to flesh out their differences more.

Jacob Sanders, Thursday, 18 February 2010 06:45 (fifteen years ago)

I haven't heard Reinterpretations but really, for me, this is a two horse race between Feedelity and Real Life Is No Cool.

I do enjoy the albums with Prins Thomas but they seem less focused to me. I'm not against a noodle but I'm looking for reasons to exclude albums. WYGIGT is fantastic but it's sometimes too much of a muchness, like it has to be consumed in one complete sit-down meal. Feedelity has an unfair advantage as a singles compilation. Real Life has an unfair advantage as it's a finger-snapping girlpop affair, which fits most nicely into mine own personal taste.

However, it's not quite so quintessentially Lindstrom, it seems at times obvious that he's outside his comfort zone - in a good way sometimes, with interesting results. But if I have to vote, I'm going to have him in his natural environment. So I'm going with Feedelity.

Cosmic Dentistry (Masonic Boom), Thursday, 18 February 2010 17:16 (fifteen years ago)

fuck yeah mighty girl!

important decisions need to be made

a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Monday, 15 March 2010 06:02 (fifteen years ago)

For me, it's something like Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas - Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas > Lindstrøm - It's a Feedelity Affair = Lindstrøm - Where You Go I Go Too > Lindstrøm & Christabelle - Real Life is No Cool > Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas - II

I haven't heard Reinterpretations, but I like Nummer Fire a lot. And Little Drummer Boy is aces, too.

The first L&PT is just so warm and lovely, and much better played than II.

Loving the three-way tie, btw. These results seem fair.

RLINC hella robbed imo

max, Tuesday, 16 March 2010 01:01 (fifteen years ago)

Pleased to see Lindstrøm alone owning the poll.

Tied Up In Geir (Geir Hongro), Tuesday, 16 March 2010 01:06 (fifteen years ago)

Okay, glad that the latest lp didn't get too high on the list

am0n, Tuesday, 16 March 2010 14:55 (fifteen years ago)

same here. love the L&PT stuff most of all. (though I haven't heard everything else.)

original bgm, Tuesday, 16 March 2010 20:10 (fifteen years ago)

haha, this is like the exact reverse of how i would rate these records

plax (ico), Tuesday, 16 March 2010 20:17 (fifteen years ago)

wygigt is great but really owes its soul to 'transfer station blue'
