Was looking at getting this. There is a new version that came out this year. Seems to have 120 minutes worth of stuff on it (according to Amazon), whereas the original doco was only 53 minutes. Anyone know what the extra stuff is? Anyone seen this?

There are other Fela threads here (have you checked via search). On the otherhand people start threads for every indie band constantly so why not for Fela-related stuff. But no I have not seen it.

Still annoyed this film isn't available on Netflix.

Jeez. Really what is the problem with creating a thread for this particular doco? It is what I wanted to talk about and ask a particular question about. Does it really matter that there are other Fela threads? What is so inappropriate about this? Have I broken a law? Why can't you go and whine somewhere else?

Sorry to be rude. Perhaps I have indeed committed some terrible 'blog sin'. If so then I guess someone will have to tell me off and explain the correct ettiquitte. Just seems some people like to moan about trivial stuff.

I've recently seen the documentary in question. I'm not surprised that their is more footage. The movie seemed quickly edited and alot wasn't covered about Fela's life. Actually, the latest Wax Poetic has a portion of his autobiography I believe. That has some interesting stuff.

x-post

IMHO it just seems more useful to folks who use this board to post questions on existing threads where there is already information on that artist, especially when it is an artist and a question that is unlikely to generate hundreds of responses. It is more user-friendly for people searching than to have to go through multiple threads with only a handful of answers on them. There are plenty of Fela threads already.

Watching this now. Not really loving it so far. Too little performance footage so far, too much Fela spouting Fela-isms and uninspired slice-of-life shots.

Actual performance/dance footage is great of course.
