It's a new music publication. You'll recognize some familiar names from here. Looks like it rules. Check it out:

To answer the basic questions up front: No ads, no distribution (Lulu.com is print-on-demand), profit-sharing between all contributors, quarterly, whatever we feel like writing about. No idea yet what's gonna be in #2.

Excellent. So very very excited to get this.

It looks OK, but it doesn't tell me who the musicians are wearing, and I don't think I can take it seriously without that.

Phil, not sure if you saw this yet but it appears David Adler is responding to your Shipp profile here.

Yeah, I emailed him a link when I put the whole Shipp piece online at the BA blog...if anybody else wants to check that out, you can do so here.
Pulling together articles for issue #2 and 3 now, which will be out in mid-May and mid-September respectively...if any ILMers have got an idea they'd like to explore at length, for little or no reward, by all means let me know.

thing is, shipp is totally otm - herbie hancock hasn't made a great rec in 30 years, wayne shorter's new acoustic group is v v boring, far too much mainstream jazz is still in thrall to the sound of things like MAIDEN VOYAGE 40 years -
― Ward Fowler, Thursday, 4 March 2010 10:51 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah, I mean Shipp can come off as kind of an ass the first time you read an interview, but when you realize he is generally otm it becomes pretty hard to hold it against him.
