OUCH THIS ONE IS GONNA HURT

T Bone Streep (Cave17Matt), Sunday, 21 February 2010 14:14 (fifteen years ago)

Street Fightin' Man is one of my three or four favorite songs ever, so that.

Pistols easy, followed by "Soldier Boy", i guess.

the not-loved one (Ioannis), Sunday, 21 February 2010 15:24 (fifteen years ago)

Bruce, Pistols, Marvin, Chantels, Elegants, the Who and Dobie Gray all stand out. But voting for Elvis.

jetfan, Sunday, 21 February 2010 15:33 (fifteen years ago)

I voted Standing in the Shadows of Love. Four Tops couldn't be beat at that point.

Ballistic, Sunday, 21 February 2010 16:20 (fifteen years ago)

tough/impossible choice between Who, Pistols and Stones

blow it out your bad-taste hole (WmC), Sunday, 21 February 2010 16:24 (fifteen years ago)

Bruce over Madonna; kinda not feeling the earlier songs on this poll, for a change

begs the question, when is enough enough (Euler), Sunday, 21 February 2010 16:32 (fifteen years ago)

"maybe" - no doubt one of my 3 or 4 favorite doo-wop songs

If you can believe your eyes and ears (outdoor_miner), Sunday, 21 February 2010 16:55 (fifteen years ago)

I want to vote for "Maybe," but there are a couple of other Chantels songs I consider greater. So it's "Ain't Now Way," "Street Fighting Man," or "God Save the Queen." I'm surprised to say this, but right now, today, "Street Fighting Man."

Maybe the highest "I am sick of these songs and never need to hear them again" ratio yet (though I bet I bet it gets even higher from here.)

Voting Sex Pistols. Runnersup: "Little Star," "Promised Land."

xhuxk, Sunday, 21 February 2010 17:33 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah I agree. The crust is pretty thick here. I went with "Soldier Boy" which radiates the foundational purity of an Aeschylus play. Also, that entry is the one piece of great writing in the book (thanx Matos for pointing me to it).

Worst (ideologically speaking): Gaye/Weston's "It Takes Two" at an insane #146

Kevin John Bozelka, Sunday, 21 February 2010 17:54 (fifteen years ago)

Maybe if it were Joe Smooth's "Promised Land" instead of Berry's. Maybe if it were any track from I Want You instead of the Gaye song I least want to hear while having sex.

I guess I vote "Maybe."

Don't Be Cruel, people! Not sure I completely agree with David Cantwell here but it's a fine essay on the song.

ρεμπετις, Monday, 22 February 2010 01:27 (fifteen years ago)

voted 4 gaye

/b/ OK (J0rdan S.), Monday, 22 February 2010 01:46 (fifteen years ago)

I love a lot of these, but something about Madonna's "Crazy About You" has always stopped me in my tracks.
