There is an early, very different version of "Kings" on it.

Wow, really, nobody cares? I guess indie really is dead.

I care! But you already knew this. That said, I have yet to listen to anything other than "Kings", so I can't really discuss it. Your thoughts?

Is this for real?

So it's really interesting. There's actually lots of material here that ends up on Distant Plastic Trees, though with the exception of "Kings" it's usually half a Zinnias song that ends up being half a Magnetic Fields song. The sound of this record isn't like Magnetic Fields in the slightest. The vocals are more inflected than Susan Anway or SM himself would ever allow. And there's lots of structureless or barely structured guitar noise and waffle backing up everything.

"Country" is a good listen. It reminds me a little bit of Bee-Thousand era Guided by Voices (vocals and overall sound), a little bit of Home of the Brave - era Laurie Anderson (the way the noises sound) and also, though not as much, of Magnetic Fields (really just the repeated keyboard thing) and Divine Comedy (I don't know why, maybe the manner in which the vocals are delivered as opposed to the way they actually sound?)
