No nominations. Just spell the goddamn acts/albums correctly.

Nothing that finished here: THE 1990s POLL RESULTS - THE ALBUMS is available for voting. The Prodigy album at #39 is Experience, so you can still vote for Fat Of The Land, if you so wish.

Rules:

-Everyone has 200 points to spend how they will
-One album must get more points than any other (no tied winners)
-I'm counting, so don't cheat

The rest is up to you. Email your ballots to me, lou15 dot j4gg3r at gm41l dot c0m, by the end of March.

This thread is henceforth for discussion, persuasion, and zings.

<3 y'all

joagga lousome (acoleuthic), Friday, 26 February 2010 16:51 (fifteen years ago)

nice!

point of order tho: nominations should be posted in-thread

I'm so 3000-and-8080 (The Reverend), Friday, 26 February 2010 16:56 (fifteen years ago)

oh, n/m I can't read

I'm so 3000-and-8080 (The Reverend), Friday, 26 February 2010 16:56 (fifteen years ago)

your post is confusing tho. and I like having things listed out, so I'm reminded of my options.

I'm so 3000-and-8080 (The Reverend), Friday, 26 February 2010 16:57 (fifteen years ago)

in some ways i like the idea of people voting a priori but if they want to big-up some acts they're voting for in this thread, that is totally cool

it's very simple, though: apportion 200 points across deserving records other than those already celebrated, and let 'er rip. if a load of you start handing out 200 points to nate dogg i will grow suspicious and ask you to resubmit* but it's your prerogative if you want to dish out loads of points to an album you hold dear.

*i will accept it if you can prove deep and abiding love for nate dogg to the extent where it occludes all the other music of the 90's

joagga lousome (acoleuthic), Friday, 26 February 2010 17:00 (fifteen years ago)

naw, the OG post is confusing cause it says to email my nominations to you

I'm so 3000-and-8080 (The Reverend), Friday, 26 February 2010 17:07 (fifteen years ago)

Y'all didn't vote for Slint last time?

sofatruck, Friday, 26 February 2010 17:08 (fifteen years ago)

It doesn't any more! xp

Ooh, Slint. Methinks we have a contender. But who's gonna give it any more than 15 points? Eh?

joagga lousome (acoleuthic), Friday, 26 February 2010 17:09 (fifteen years ago)

btw dudes, this is the one:

I'm so 3000-and-8080 (The Reverend), Friday, 26 February 2010 17:09 (fifteen years ago)

how many records can we vote for? and is a singles one happening too?

80085 (a hoy hoy), Friday, 26 February 2010 17:12 (fifteen years ago)

nate dogg was in icp? xpost

80085 (a hoy hoy), Friday, 26 February 2010 17:13 (fifteen years ago)

Someone else can handle a tracks (not necc singles) poll. Unless you persuade me loads and loads. You can vote for up to 199 records.

joagga lousome (acoleuthic), Friday, 26 February 2010 17:14 (fifteen years ago)

also lj post the list we cant vote for here so we dont each have to go searching for it on that huage thread plzkthx

80085 (a hoy hoy), Friday, 26 February 2010 17:15 (fifteen years ago)

i'll do a singles one after if you guys want one

80085 (a hoy hoy), Friday, 26 February 2010 17:15 (fifteen years ago)

I permalinked the post on which they are listed!

Ah yeah, that'd be nice, young fresh Brit brigade representin'

joagga lousome (acoleuthic), Friday, 26 February 2010 17:16 (fifteen years ago)

wait actually... has ilx ever done a 'bestest records of all time' poll? i'd love to see our 101-200 more than that :)

80085 (a hoy hoy), Friday, 26 February 2010 17:17 (fifteen years ago)

200 points across an unspecified number of albums might BREAK MY BRAIN

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Friday, 26 February 2010 17:44 (fifteen years ago)

it will break us all

suggested breakdown for the broken-down: 50, 40, 25, 20, 15, 15, 10, 10, 5, 5, 5

joagga lousome (acoleuthic), Friday, 26 February 2010 17:50 (fifteen years ago)

Theoretically, could one award the entire 200 points to a single album?

Sometimes a pie is just a pie (KMS), Friday, 26 February 2010 17:53 (fifteen years ago)

This has the potential to be a huge mess, but I WANT IN!

Johnny Fever, Friday, 26 February 2010 17:54 (fifteen years ago)

Yes. xp

joagga lousome (acoleuthic), Friday, 26 February 2010 17:54 (fifteen years ago)

so crazy that it just might work

Sometimes a pie is just a pie (KMS), Friday, 26 February 2010 17:57 (fifteen years ago)

btw, is your email address really in haX0r or are you just obfuscating?

Johnny Fever, Friday, 26 February 2010 18:04 (fifteen years ago)

come now

joagga lousome (acoleuthic), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:04 (fifteen years ago)

Ballot sent.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 26 February 2010 18:28 (fifteen years ago)

Sorry, you'll be wanting louis.jagger

lou15 dot j4gg3r (acoleuthic), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:32 (fifteen years ago)

everyone vote for 200 albums

Pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:36 (fifteen years ago)

Did it not come through? xp

Johnny Fever, Friday, 26 February 2010 18:36 (fifteen years ago)

lol it did, I replied! :P

pfunkboy under these rules the maximum is 199, to restate

lou15 dot j4gg3r (acoleuthic), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:40 (fifteen years ago)

ok everyone vote for 199 albums

Pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:41 (fifteen years ago)

hahaha i am imagining the possibilities for wackiness should lots of people vote for 199 albums / the potential for a few one album 200-pointers to bring the craziness

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:42 (fifteen years ago)

Though you should limit the maximum amount of votes for an album, otherwise people might give 200 points to one album or 100 points to 2 albums which would skew the poll completely.

Pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:43 (fifteen years ago)

also do you realise how much work this will be with no restrictions

there's a reason why most polls have a nomination process + limitations

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:44 (fifteen years ago)

:D the idea *is* to shake up the format a little bit!

everyone voting for 199 albums would be really funny

where 'really' is 'reeeeeeeeeally' (acoleuthic), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:45 (fifteen years ago)

199 albums is a hell of a lot better than ppl voting for 1-20 albums. But 1 or 2 album ballots will spoil it completely.

Pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:46 (fifteen years ago)

The aim is that if people want to use up all their points on very few albums, or at least give one 150 and the rest 5, then that's their shout. It rewards albums that are intensely loved, which I think is an improvement over previous systems. I'll have no trouble with people giving lots of points to something. As long as they're happy with other albums not getting so many. It's a devilish gamble!

It's not so much work. I have a calculator! And I'm pretty good at mental arithmetic. I also expect most ballots to have fewer than 20 albums on them, many way fewer.

where 'really' is 'reeeeeeeeeally' (acoleuthic), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:49 (fifteen years ago)

*should read 'really loved' ;)

where 'really' is 'reeeeeeeeeally' (acoleuthic), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:49 (fifteen years ago)

Nothing that finished here: THE 1990s POLL RESULTS - THE ALBUMS is available for voting. The Prodigy album at #39 is Experience, so you can still vote for Fat Of The Land, if you so wish.

what is the rationale behind this stipulation

Jack the Dude-Kicker (HI DERE), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:50 (fifteen years ago)

On the list I permalinked, the name of the album isn't supplied for #39, but Jilted comes in further down

where 'really' is 'reeeeeeeeeally' (acoleuthic), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:51 (fifteen years ago)

but why would anyone vote for fat of the land?

Pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:52 (fifteen years ago)

'Climbatize' and 'Mindfields' and 'Narayan' are really not bad at all

where 'really' is 'reeeeeeeeeally' (acoleuthic), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:52 (fifteen years ago)

you lost me at Narayan

Pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:53 (fifteen years ago)

Let me rephrase my question so that it's actually answered:

what is the rationale behind excluding albums that placed on the previous poll

Jack the Dude-Kicker (HI DERE), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:53 (fifteen years ago)

Did you completely miss the alternate 70s poll?

I'm so 3000-and-8080 (The Reverend), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:54 (fifteen years ago)

so its not exactly kicking things up then if its been done already?

Pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:55 (fifteen years ago)

Because we did it for the 70's and 80's repolls and that worked out really nicely? Nobody wants to see Loveless wander home again. And fuck, Different Class? That's Pulp's worst post-80's record ffs

...but yeah, I think we'll get more interesting results that way.

where 'really' is 'reeeeeeeeeally' (acoleuthic), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:55 (fifteen years ago)

We didn't do it for the 80s poll. We just renominated because the original 80s results were never posted.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 26 February 2010 18:56 (fifteen years ago)

I am now gonna go check what made that previous poll

Pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:56 (fifteen years ago)

oh wait, the 80's weren't repolled, really sorry

but yeah it worked for the 70's

where 'really' is 'reeeeeeeeeally' (acoleuthic), Friday, 26 February 2010 18:56 (fifteen years ago)

I have no real problem with this method fwiw; I just haven't been quite as sharp as anyone would have liked. Next-day turnover isn't really necessary in the langorous world of ILX

sausage s4rgent (acoleuthic), Monday, 26 April 2010 14:51 (fifteen years ago)

I don't blame LJ. I do blame Pfunkboy and ilxor however.

I am using your worlds, Monday, 26 April 2010 14:52 (fifteen years ago)

IMO we should all chill and wait for the results to come pouring in later today (!!)

sausage s4rgent (acoleuthic), Monday, 26 April 2010 14:53 (fifteen years ago)

It's all good, I am chill. I am sure your hard work will be worth it!

I am using your worlds, Monday, 26 April 2010 14:55 (fifteen years ago)

and no-one at all will be surprised if the Cardiacs make a best of the 90s poll for the 1st time ever.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 26 April 2010 14:56 (fifteen years ago)

My ballot was one of the first in btw, so not my fault he left it to the end.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 26 April 2010 14:58 (fifteen years ago)

Also Pfunkboy I'm docking you one point from your 200 because XTRMNTR was a 00's album ffs

sausage s4rgent (acoleuthic), Monday, 26 April 2010 15:02 (fifteen years ago)

Didn't you redistribute point(s) other people mistakenly gave to ineligible albums?

surmudgeon (some dude), Monday, 26 April 2010 15:10 (fifteen years ago)

he did

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 26 April 2010 15:14 (fifteen years ago)

fine, I'll just tack it onto your #1

sausage s4rgent (acoleuthic), Monday, 26 April 2010 15:21 (fifteen years ago)

oh ilxor! BoC's MHTRTC was in the OG poll!

sausage s4rgent (acoleuthic), Monday, 26 April 2010 15:30 (fifteen years ago)

you silly people

sausage s4rgent (acoleuthic), Monday, 26 April 2010 15:31 (fifteen years ago)

imo if people can't be bothered to read the rules I don't see why you should bother reading their votes

I am using your worlds, Monday, 26 April 2010 15:38 (fifteen years ago)

submitted a short ballot with almost all points going to albums that will not win place or show, strategy guide needed

contenderizer, Monday, 26 April 2010 15:46 (fifteen years ago)

imo if people can't be bothered to read the rules I don't see why you should bother reading their votes

Yes, because mistakenly including one ineligible album from the previous '90s poll, out of nearly 200, is a fucking travesty and should result in all my votes being disqualified.

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Monday, 26 April 2010 15:58 (fifteen years ago)

guyyyyys

nearly finished btw

as soon as I have done collating all extant ballots, voting is completely closed and no further votes counted

sausage s4rgent (acoleuthic), Monday, 26 April 2010 16:00 (fifteen years ago)

Quick! Someone send him another 200 album ballot!!

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Monday, 26 April 2010 16:03 (fifteen years ago)

You've fucking included XTRMNTR as well you clot

sausage s4rgent (acoleuthic), Monday, 26 April 2010 16:08 (fifteen years ago)

AND His'N'Hers which was in the AAAARGH whatever

sausage s4rgent (acoleuthic), Monday, 26 April 2010 16:10 (fifteen years ago)

AND The Bends

sausage s4rgent (acoleuthic), Monday, 26 April 2010 16:11 (fifteen years ago)

I voted! This was fun.

Gravel Puzzleworth, Monday, 26 April 2010 16:16 (fifteen years ago)

Just in time!

sausage s4rgent (acoleuthic), Monday, 26 April 2010 16:17 (fifteen years ago)

Number of albums voted for by both Pfunkboy and ilxor but nobody else: 37

sausage s4rgent (acoleuthic), Monday, 26 April 2010 16:31 (fifteen years ago)

that's not a lot

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:00 (fifteen years ago)

surprised

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:00 (fifteen years ago)

there was one album voted for by you, him and me only. hazard a guess?

sausage s4rgent (acoleuthic), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:08 (fifteen years ago)

british band?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:10 (fifteen years ago)

or dEUS

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:11 (fifteen years ago)

or fuzzy logic

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:12 (fifteen years ago)

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:13 (fifteen years ago)

I cant see lj voting for the second coming

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:14 (fifteen years ago)

your final guess is correct

sausage s4rgent (acoleuthic), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:26 (fifteen years ago)

damn lj prolly shldnt hav used an abacus to tally the votes

where display names die, unrecognized (Lamp), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:27 (fifteen years ago)

this is closed btw. davek didn't send me an email so his ballot is disqualified. sorry to all the cardisacs fans out there! i'm just ascertaining what came where. so far, so awesomely wacky

sausage s4rgent (acoleuthic), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:27 (fifteen years ago)

sausage s4rgent (acoleuthic), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:28 (fifteen years ago)

Davek (davek_00), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:34 (fifteen years ago)

Please, let me in. I like to think I picked some good ones..

Davek (davek_00), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:35 (fifteen years ago)

It's a very different ballot to your original and you've clearly spent a bit of time thinking about it. I'll give you that.

sausage s4rgent (acoleuthic), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:36 (fifteen years ago)

rock on

Davek (davek_00), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:37 (fifteen years ago)

I just wish you hadn't posted your fucking first draft here, is all

sausage s4rgent (acoleuthic), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:37 (fifteen years ago)

gaaaah really sorry about that, honestly didn't mean to ruin that. Still <3 right?

Davek (davek_00), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:39 (fifteen years ago)

whatever, do what you must...looking forward to seeing where my albums turn up.

Davek (davek_00), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:39 (fifteen years ago)

'twould be a trifle 'arsh to have fannied around for two weeks only to deny young Mr Davek for a mere seven minutes

Ismael Klata, Monday, 26 April 2010 17:50 (fifteen years ago)

xp nah he let me in, I think. Also....*young* mr davek?!

Davek (davek_00), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:51 (fifteen years ago)

Relatively speaking.

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:58 (fifteen years ago)

sorry, presumed the _00 was year of birth

Ismael Klata, Monday, 26 April 2010 17:58 (fifteen years ago)

sausage s4rgent (acoleuthic), Monday, 26 April 2010 18:00 (fifteen years ago)

got burned today

Davek (davek_00), Monday, 26 April 2010 18:00 (fifteen years ago)

fwiw ILX seemed a pretty vibrant place back when I was ten.
