I'm not completely sure what else these songs have in common, besides that they're both fucking awesome.

Jamie_ATP, Saturday, 27 February 2010 14:17 (fifteen years ago)

same with weezer obviously

Jamie_ATP, Saturday, 27 February 2010 14:17 (fifteen years ago)

I just like to pretend the current versions are a different band.. (which would be Green Day post-Warning and Weezer post-insanity.)

i always forget about jar--it's a great song

Weezer always include a few classics on their latterday albums, with the possible exception of Maladroit

PaulTMA, Saturday, 27 February 2010 16:31 (fifteen years ago)

Decent songs.. i personally wouldnt call Pork And Beans or Beverly Hills a classic..

I had never heard that Weezer track, it's awesome!

Still voted JAR though.

The weezer song is pretty cheesy. i just listened to JAR for the first time in 12+ years, and it wasn't as good as i remembered. note to self: never revisit the past.

love J.A.R. I remember in middle school I had the awesome opportunity to play a song in class and explain why it related to a book we were reading. I had to choose between JAR and some metallica song. I chose the metallica song and got a bunch of blank stares. if I had chosen JAR, maybe they would have all cheered me and carried me on their shoulders!

it was one of those classic "if only everybody would hear this song like I hear it, they would recognize its greatness and want to become friends with the person who introduced them to it" childhood moments, which you realize is a such a fallacy when you grow up.

close! a deserving winner. other Weezer b-sides would have trumped J.A.R. tho

Freddy 'The Wonder Chicken' (Gukbe), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 01:19 (fifteen years ago)

which ones??????? at the moment "Suzanne" and "Jamie" don't seem as huge to me as "IJTOTLOMD"

billstevejim, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 01:31 (fifteen years ago)

and by huge, i mean HUGE-sounding

billstevejim, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 01:31 (fifteen years ago)

Shouldn't this be the song Green Day wrote for their friend who died vs that song Weezer wrote for their fans who died?

Philip Nunez, Wednesday, 3 March 2010 01:39 (fifteen years ago)

vs. that song phil collins wrote about the one guy who watched the other guy die by drowning

noted schloar (dyao), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 01:41 (fifteen years ago)

that's a myth, son

Melvin van Osterlow, Jr. (res), Wednesday, 3 March 2010 03:14 (fifteen years ago)

also, the weezer song was written before they died. if you're talking about the song with their names in the title.
