Big Sean is the most laughably worthless, so I'll vote for him

don't really know why i'm taking this seriously but i voted freddie gibbs, he seems halfway competent.

the most lol inclusion is either oj da juiceman who's already on the downward arc of his career (altho i guess you could argue most of these cats won't even have an arc) or wiz khalifa who is already a failed major label artist with no prospects

what i've heard from J. Cole was competent and not nearly as bland as Memphis Bleek 2k10 status would have had me assume

the OJ inclusion really is strange considering that Waka would 1) fill the same niche 2) hasn't released an album already and 3) actually has a big single at the moment

and 4) wasn't on an xxl cover 6 months ago

as horrendous as last year's freshman class (acc to xxl) was, at least they have like, a half dozen hits among them

haha that too. it's kind of the Ace Hood thing where probably whoever made the decision didn't even realize they already dropped an album.

i'd say last year's group was about equal in hit terms at the time of the issue -- "day n nite" and "i love college" hadn't really hit the charts yet, i think B.o.B. was the only one i'd actually heard on the radio at that point

nipsey is pretty decent -- he lacks an overt personality but he's often a conduit for classic cali summery rap production & what not -- he's pretty much like the rick ross of california in that he's totally archetypal & cliche but kind of fills a comfort food niche

the only problem now is that he's trying to break out with like, jr rotem productions & sean kingston features

it's no secret he's a nucklehead but that oj video is just like "oh my god, can it be true?" watched it like 20 times first time i saw it.

No love for Donnis? He had what I thought was one of last year's best mixtapes, Diary of an ATL Brave. His flow was nothing to write home about, but he was charming enough, and he had great production and some really memorable songs on it. (And a Bun B guest spot never hurts, either).

i didn't realize J. Cole was anywhere to go away from. i man, i've heard him on a couple hyped up guest appearances, but is anyone actually listening to his own records? anyway seems like he's less objectionable or soft serve as an actual rapper than his Drake-esque pictures make him look.

I know I've heard a few J. Cole features, butI've barely noticed his existance on any of them.

this has a disappointing absence of grocery bag lines, but makes up for it with a myriad of traditionally awful punchlines -- i feel foolish even approaching this seriously, but big sean is one of the emptiest rappers that has gotten buzz in a while -- dude really comes off as someone playing dress up who has no idea what to actually DO -- he looks so hilariously stupid in those big ass 2008 fake kanye shades (take that monkey shit off etc) -- he has this unique ability to make his songs feel twice as long as they are -- i swear whenever i watch one of these youtubes i glance down and it's only been 1:30 and i'm just like "the fuck??" -- also in this joint he apes lil wayne's flow so hard, esp in the what i believe to be the third verse

well it's kind of a no-win situation, right? Like it's ridiculous they're listing guys with major label signings but if they drop in a collection of unknowns the question is who the fuck are these guys.
i would welcome some intros to the lesser knowns, Kap G doesn't sound bad at all on first contact.
