This sounds like something I need to own.

Rural Garage Psych

Gimme some Fuzz Wah Madness

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 11 March 2010 21:21 (fifteen years ago)

i haven't listened to it yet, but it was new in a discount bin for 12 bucks, i'm only human after all.

the blurb almost reads like a parody of garage collector jive.

TWO KNOWN COPIES!

TAKEN FROM THEIR ULTRA RARE FLEXI DISC!

Exploito Fuzz

followed just barely by: Trashy Prog, and Rural Garage Psych...

Voted for "Exploito Psych"

"groove-psych library record" a close second.

Elvis Telecom, Thursday, 11 March 2010 21:38 (fifteen years ago)

i didn't even know "exploito" was a thing....who is being exploited? is the band exploiting psych? or exploiting fuzz? or are is the band being exploited? or is it a russ meyers type thing?

Deuce Bigalow: Male Juggalo (M@tt He1ges0n), Thursday, 11 March 2010 22:05 (fifteen years ago)

*awesome* is what it is, M@tt!

David Bowie -- God Among Men (Drugs A. Money), Thursday, 11 March 2010 22:06 (fifteen years ago)

(actually, I'll bet exploito is being used as a synonym for trashy)

David Bowie -- God Among Men (Drugs A. Money), Thursday, 11 March 2010 22:07 (fifteen years ago)

Where the hell did you find this for $12? Their Christian comp was really good, I thought. Also, trashy prog. I don't even think that's possible, or was circa '67-'75.

winnebago taco, Thursday, 11 March 2010 22:11 (fifteen years ago)

Acid Sixties-Punk. It lacks the poetic imagery of Rural Garage Psych or the non-sense of Exploito-Fuzz, but it's so self-contradicting.

elephant rob, Thursday, 11 March 2010 22:18 (fifteen years ago)

Rural Garage Psych

As opposed to Barn Psych?

Il suffit de ne pas l'envier (Michael White), Thursday, 11 March 2010 22:22 (fifteen years ago)

(i got it at the electric fetus in minneapolis in the new vinyl cutout bin, still haven't listened to it, but you see a record like this you can't pass it up)

Flimshaw! Too pricey. That was a steal, man! Kudos.

winnebago taco, Thursday, 11 March 2010 22:33 (fifteen years ago)

Went for Exploito Fuzz.

Acid Punk and Sixties Punk have been a thing for a while (mostly down to Nuggets/Pebbles/Boulders comps, I think), so Acid Sixties-Punk doesn't seem that surprising to me. Quite a lot of the others are just adjectives attached to commonly accepted genres.

emil.y, Thursday, 11 March 2010 22:44 (fifteen years ago)

(I agree that this sounds pretty awesome, though.)

emil.y, Thursday, 11 March 2010 22:44 (fifteen years ago)

rural garage psych ftw.

Joint Custody (ian), Friday, 12 March 2010 08:06 (fifteen years ago)

Exploito Psych, all the way, but I think I just accidentally voted for Exploito Fuzz.

_Rudipherous_, Friday, 12 March 2010 08:42 (fifteen years ago)

Really, no love for "Basement Hard Rock Insanity"?

myndbloom, Friday, 12 March 2010 08:56 (fifteen years ago)

listened last night, this is a groovy record.

Deuce Bigalow: Male Juggalo (M@tt He1ges0n), Friday, 12 March 2010 17:11 (fifteen years ago)

Would download based on that press release. It does seem a little unlikely that Francoist Spain should have boasted such a vibrant Lo-Fi Psych Prog Proto-Punk Insanity scene, all the same.

Ismael Klata, Friday, 12 March 2010 17:22 (fifteen years ago)

I would totally vote for "groove-psych library record" if it were one of the options.

But I think I'm gonna go for "fuzz wah madness".

But I love this list. I'm gonna quote it next time some dance bobbins type person sneers at me for not knowing the difference between Tech House and Progressive Minimal. "Yeah, well, you don't know your Rural Garage Psych from your Acid Sixties-Punk!"

Anything with 'exploito' in it must win, surely.

moley, Wednesday, 31 March 2010 03:26 (fifteen years ago)

Fuzz-Wah Madness is tempting, but then I caught a bout of Basement Hard Rock Insanity
