Joe Carducci has written an appreciation for this group, "the best, hardest art-rock trio since Robert Fripp kicked Jamie Muir out of King Crimson" in the New Vulgate.
Any other fans of this 80s Chicago-based band?

Yes!! I loved this band based solely on the "Daddy's Crowbar"/"Judging" single on Butt Rag (still have an excellent issue of the Butt Rag zine somewhere in my storage closet). Byron Coley compared them to Hüsker Dü in a 1990 Spin which I think gets it right (although suggesting the Düs fell off after Metal Circus is a typical avant-dork Coleyism). Wonder why he reviewed the single two years after it came out, though.
I cannot recall hearing anything else by Repulse Kava (although I seek out their LP Flow Gently Sweet Alpha from time to time) so bassist Bill De Leonardis' myspace is welcome (and bringing back some ancient remedies for late 1980s doldrums).
thanx for all this link New Vulgarian!

they had something on Ajax right? Always wanted to hear them because of that, but never have. I love Ajax records.

Yeah the LP as on Ajax (still have some Ajax catalogs too...I recall a worst Bart Simpson drawing contest in one of them....the winner was a godawful scribble that took about three seconds to create xoxoxo)
Had no clue there was a Joe Carducci Records. Also, "thanx for THE link, New Vulgarian!" Repulse Kava excitement fucks with coherent thought.

I still have Flow Gently Sweet Alpha somewhere. 'Coercion' is such a great song. That sort of metallic guitar mangling always kind of reminded me a bit of what little Phantom Tollbooth I'd heard.

Man, I had a God's Acre 7" too, but I can hardly remember what it sounded like. Thanks for the linkage!

Oh yeah, that's the one I had! A bit more straightforward than Repulse Kava eh? Kinda sludgy biker rock. Never heard God & Texas.
