ha, it occurs to me that there's just as much ink to be spilled on the topic of Pitbull and appropriation as there has about Vampire Weekend

yeah I keep seeing this on MTV Hits and wondering where the hell this song came from and enjoying the confusion

incidentally it's cool that Baltimore club producer DJ Class pops up in the Pitbull video (that version of the song is kinda built on parts of the beat from his "I'm The Ish," which both Pitbull and Lil Jon were on remixes of last year)

I didn't notice DJ Class in the video, but I did note the "I'm the Ish" beat, which I knew Lil Jon had done a remix of, but didn't know Pitbull had.

I want to put out a SUSPECT ALERT on this Sensato guy.

the Lil Jon remix was kinda the 'main' remix that the label promoted, but at one point Pitbull tacked on a verse to it, which was really disappointingly half-assed, i thought he was gonna be great on it -- but Pit's last album had a DJ Class-produced track, "Juice Box," that kinda made up for it

I mostly heard just heard the OG version and the Kanye remix

i can't tell if this is the second coming of "yahh!" or the lonely island

second verse kills it, whoever it is

It's more "Yahhh!" than Lonely Island, at least in regards to where it fits in culturally.

But that's not quite it, either. Note that the fan video has 3.7 million views without Black Point & Sensato having the same promotional channels available to them as Lonely Island (or Pitbull {or Soulja Boy}), so it's very much a grassroots success, until now at least.
