Like, why don't the Cro-Mags just give up already. They've been around so long, they've probably 'evolved' by now! Likewise Murphy's Law, something must have 'gone right' for them after all this time, and I bet at least one of Agnostic Front have found religion, or atheism

Admit it, those BBs 80s 'masterpieces' are kinda unlistenable these days, no?

― dave q, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i dunno, i'll have to actually pull em out & listen to em some day.

i remember tom saying their only decent album was 'licenced to ill' on ILM 1x & i thought hmmm yeah, that had never really occurred to me before as being the case but it's pretty much true. pretty much.

are the cro-mags really still going?

― unknown or illegal user, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"The street life in NYC is tough...I've bought Biohazard albums, I know what it's like!" (Can't start a thread without fitting an Anal Cunt reference in somewhere, can I?)

― dave q, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

the cro-mags have the power of hare krishna -- hence, their boring music. Why, Laura Logic, did you have to join? Is shaking a tamborine better than the saxophone?

― Jack Cole, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Good on you, Q - both acts are crap.

― the pinefox, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

pf see if you can download 'wish fulfillment'!

― Josh, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

by sy not the beasties, they're terrible

― Josh, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Beastie Boys've been dormant lately and their last single was pretty cheeseball so I'm going with SY. Comparing their complete output, though, it's a tougher decision, though I'll say SY again on that count simply 'cos they released more excellent albums (and more albums, period) from 1986-1998 than the Beasties did in that timespan. Still, I think they're both great and I hate you all.

The moral of dave's first post: all rock acts should have a gem embedded in each member's palm so that when they turn thirty they go to The Carousel and explode in a flash of pyrotechnics. Well that's just wonderful. You keep on thinking that.

huh? 'licensed to ill' was their worst album! i think the real question here is: who is better to listen to stoned?

― geeta, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

PAUL'S BOUTIQUE still holds up, if you ask me.

― Alex in NYC, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I've never like Paul's Boutique, never been a fan of the Dust Brothers either.

Check Your Head has its moments, but I could probably still rap along to the whole 'Licensed To Ill' album. Therefore, that's my favourit

― chewshabdoo, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I like Sum 41 much better than either of these bands.

― Kris, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

the popist answer: 'i like licensed to ill. then they stopped being frivolous in the way i like, thus DUD. i haf never liked sonic youth, except for a brief flirtation with Dirty / Goo'

the rockist answer: 'i like sonic youth better, until they started sucking after Daydream Nation / Amy Phillips / birth. on the other hand, Paul's Boutique was produced by Dust Bros, who did Beck records so CLASSIC ps. i love guitar solos'

indie bastard snob answer: 'sonic youth? didn't they have an EP on neutral?' julio answer: 'I LUV NOIZZZEE!!'

― Dave M., Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

oh yeah "paul's boutique" is great actually.

― unknown or illegal user, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

really i never put records by either of these bands on but when someone else does they sound pretty ok.
