Starting to see various mentions on Twitter that Gillett has passed, no details as yet. I only really knew The Sound of the City but his career and work sounds truly remarkable.

Did not know about Little Richard bio. Definitely loved Sound Of The City though. Also loved Graham Parker and the Rumour and that Holly and the Italians record. RIP.

Great writer, great enthusiast (which is a good thing imo), who just loved music and was able to articulate that. I always thought he was really, really old for some reason, perhaps because Sound of the City, which he must have written when he was 26 or 27?) sounded so authoritative. Or maybe it was just his name.
