johnny crunch, Sunday, 21 March 2010 01:45 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, "The Middle," easily. "Pass the Courvosier" is a distant second.

Actually, come to think of it, I did recheck both of these as part of the Poptimists poll a month ago, and liked both of them; can't say they ever much stick with me, though:

Celine Dion - A New Day Has Come
Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles

xhuxk, Sunday, 21 March 2010 02:03 (fifteen years ago)

Pink, followed by Alan Jackson.

The Magnificent Colin Firth (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 21 March 2010 02:07 (fifteen years ago)

maxwell then jimmy eat world

k3vin k., Sunday, 21 March 2010 02:16 (fifteen years ago)

i was listening to a LOT of radio around this time and have fond memories of even the songs on here that i don't think are especially great ("Halfcrazy," "Feel The Girl," "Crawling In The Dark," "Feels Good," "Wrong Impression," "For You"), but ultimately i went for "A Thousand Miles" narrowly over "Awnaw."

some dude, Sunday, 21 March 2010 02:22 (fifteen years ago)

I'm honestly shocked that you guys like that Vanessa Carlton nonsense.

The Magnificent Colin Firth (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 21 March 2010 02:28 (fifteen years ago)

I'm honestly shocked you guys like any of these awful songs.

Well, if it helps any, I was shocked that I liked it, too.

Btw, too late, but I'm already wishing I'd gone with "Drive (For Daddy Gene)" here instead of "Underneath Your Clothes"; the former just strikes me as more of a real single, though there's a chance I'd think differently if I wasn't such a Laundry Service fan.

xhuxk, Sunday, 21 March 2010 13:54 (fifteen years ago)

i'm not exchanging V-Car for the retards, top 5 girl pop jam of the decade no doubt

some dude, Sunday, 21 March 2010 14:31 (fifteen years ago)

weekday bump

Please Do Not Swagga Jack Me (Matos W.K.), Monday, 22 March 2010 22:37 (fifteen years ago)

that diamonds commercial actually ruined "A Thousand Miles" for me

"The Middle"

"Where's Momus? He could clear all of this up" (Tape Store), Monday, 22 March 2010 22:41 (fifteen years ago)

bump again

Please Do Not Swagga Jack Me (Matos W.K.), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 18:10 (fifteen years ago)

a nice selection of half-remembered trax here, none really leapt out so i had to go back and remind myself of a few, and v pleasant it was. "wish i didn't miss you" is so much better than i remember - think that shades it, just, over "awnaw" and "underneath your clothes", then "a thousand miles" and the sorely underrated "no matta what" round out a pretty great top 5.

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 20:19 (fifteen years ago)

must admit i didn't expect to be voting for angie stone more than once in this series! i don't even have any of her albums from this period. i should prob rectify that.

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 20:20 (fifteen years ago)

The new single's helped, hasn't it?

APPLAUD YOU CORPSES (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 20:22 (fifteen years ago)

The dance remix of "Wish I Didn't Miss You" is like on "It's Not Right But It's Okay" levels of flat-out awesome

ALLAH! *rolls on floor* (HI DERE), Tuesday, 23 March 2010 20:24 (fifteen years ago)

hmm i should probably give that one a relisten too, didn't pay attention/don't remember how it goes. have never really been actively into a.stone, perhaps i should have been

i also need this dance remix then!!

This Pound Boys one is the killer Angie Stone remix. The "all you wanna do is smoke chronic" loop! The bassline! The drums! And so on.

"The Middle" is by far my least favorite of the 4 singles off that album, but it's still pretty good -- definitely one of the best (only?) guitar solos to grace a Hot 100 hit in the last decade
