i think "north american scum" & "daft punk" are my two least favorite songs on their respective albums, so i'm not putting too much stock in this

i do think it's pretty good tho -- it's sort of surf-rocky? also i dig the refrain even tho it's kind of cheap -- solo is cool too

This track is wack in a pleasant way, even the self-plagiarizing ("North American Scum" at the 1:30 mark). I do keep expecting him to go all RADIO ON like Jonathan Richman.

this sounds more like a typical drawn out dancey lcd song a la "yeah" (not to make too much of it)

Okay I've completely turned myself around on this song. Even more concise and loveable than North American Scum. As for influence-spotting musical references, I hear early 80s Belew-Fripp in the solo and as the song crescendos I'm immediately reminded of one of my favourite bands, Stereolab - the juddering two note bassline, analogue synth drone, vocal harmonies. I'm going to listen to it again.

listening back and the crowd react on the bass drop in 'us v them' is so fuckin rad

All the youtube footage I've gone through doesn't quite live up to my memory of that drop.

I spent some time with this album today and it hit me pretty hard. Even the stuff I'd been keen to skip ("Drunk Girls", "Somebody's Calling Me") resonated especially deep after giving this album some distance. Definitely my favorite of the three.

I'll credit the band for recognizing that altering (or in this case, halting) its momentum allows you to take a break and appreciate its albums all over again, minus the distractions of tours, news, interviews, hype, upcoming releases, etc.

You know, for a dude who ostensibly broke up the band to lower his visibility and take some time off, James Murphy has been surprisingly busy and visible. Movies, making movies, still doin' interviews ...

iirc the whole point of him "breaking up" the band was so that he'd have time to work on all the other stuff he wanted to work on

He broke up LCD so that he'd have time to reform them and break them up again.

tbh I am kind of cross w/ Tyler Pope for not reforming Out Hud since I mean he's prob got a lot more free time than Jams

The concert film is exclusive to the DVD and Blu-ray release – you cannot buy it separately. As well as the documentary and full concert the DVD and Blu-ray also comes filled with extras.

Loved listening to the boot of the show, but for the life of me can't imagine who would sit down and watch the four hour concert at home.

i did just that already once! looking forward to doing it again.

The parts of this movie that shows the band & him interacting are so boring and uncool it really hurts me & almost ruins the idea of bands for me
