"Grindin'" is the only one I love, but "Days Go By" holds up.

filling the medicare donut hole with the semen of liberal (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 29 March 2010 23:58 (fifteen years ago)

went for "grindin'".. that beat just... aaaahhh...

bodacious cowboy (hobbes), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 00:00 (fifteen years ago)

Haha is this going to be a "Grindin'" landslide? (Runners-up: "Hot in Herre," "Without Me")

Please Do Not Swagga Jack Me (Matos W.K.), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 00:07 (fifteen years ago)

"Whoa Now" is wildly underrated. The world just wasn't ready.

DanGibson, Tuesday, 30 March 2010 00:12 (fifteen years ago)

"Without Me" is obnoxious as hell, and not in a good way.

filling the medicare donut hole with the semen of liberal (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 00:16 (fifteen years ago)

Hot in Herrrrre

musically, Tuesday, 30 March 2010 00:33 (fifteen years ago)

Wow. I forgot all about "My Neck, My Back." Grossest hit single of all-time?

Mr. Snrub, Tuesday, 30 March 2010 00:38 (fifteen years ago)

grindin wins every ilx poll that it's in, but it's the best one here

hipster puddy (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 00:41 (fifteen years ago)

"hot in herre" is overrated on ilx but "grindin" will still crush it here, lot of monster singles on this one actually

51ocki (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 00:57 (fifteen years ago)

Scarface ft. Jay-Z & Beanie Sigel - Guess Who's Back - Def Jam South - 5/18/02 - 85
Sean Paul - Give Me the Light - Black Shadow/VP - 5/4/02 - 97
System of a Down - Toxicity - American - 5/4/02 - 76
Ying Yang Twins - Say I Yi Yi - Collipark/In the Paint - 5/4/02 - 74

these are all monsters -- esp ying yang

hipster puddy (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 00:57 (fifteen years ago)

Of the ones I know and like, more or less this order:

1. Paulina Rubio - Don't Say Goodbye - Universal - 5/4/02 - 85
2. B Rich - Whoa Now - Atlantic - 5/18/02 - 98
3. Ying Yang Twins - Say I Yi Yi - Collipark/In the Paint - 5/4/02 - 74
4. Clipse - Grindin' - Star Trak/Arista - 5/25/02 - 98
5. Brad Paisley - I'm Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin' Song) - Arista Nashville - 5/4/02 - 66
6. Brooks & Dunn - My Heart Is Lost to You - Arista Nashville - 5/25/02 - 75
7. Eminem - Without Me - Aftermath - 5/11/02 - 44
8. Nelly - Hot in Herre - Universal - 5/4/02 - 49
9. Khia ft. DSD - My Neck, My Back - Artemis/Dirty Down - 5/25/02 - 83

Do agree that B. Rich's second-line New Orleans R&B Jeffersons rap from Baltimore has unjustly gotten the historical shaft, though.

xhuxk, Tuesday, 30 March 2010 01:16 (fifteen years ago)

Clipse deserves to win, but I am throwing my vote fully behind Khia, who sings about liking it when things come fully from behind.

queen frostine (Eric H.), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 01:28 (fifteen years ago)

B Rich - Whoa Now - Atlantic - 5/18/02 - 98
Mario - Just a Friend 2002 - J - 5/25/02 - 88

torn between these, it was so exciting to drive around Baltimore that spring hearing two fun local songs blow up simultaneously

forktongueclovenhoofu (some dude), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 01:29 (fifteen years ago)

Oh man I totally had a crush on Sean Paul when I was 18.

demonic splendor, demonic majesty (Abbott), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 02:52 (fifteen years ago)

Surely the Puddle of Mudd and N.O.R.E. song titles and labels are backwards?

Clipse - Grindin' - Star Trak/Arista - 5/25/02 - 98
Nelly - Hot in Herre - Universal - 5/4/02 - 49

System of a Down - Toxicity - American - 5/4/02 - 76

juan the intern (The Reverend), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 11:56 (fifteen years ago)

completely forgot the existence of the B Rich joint tbh :(

juan the intern (The Reverend), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 11:57 (fifteen years ago)

I was at a party a while back where they played "My Neck, My Back" twice in a row. It was an awesome party.

juan the intern (The Reverend), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 11:58 (fifteen years ago)

voted Clipse but Brandy, Khia and Dirty Vegas all get my support

ALLAH! *rolls on floor* (HI DERE), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 13:30 (fifteen years ago)

I remember all the chatter about the "legitimacy" of "Days Go By."

filling the medicare donut hole with the semen of liberal (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 13:32 (fifteen years ago)

"Guess Who's Back" is the greatest Kanye beat ever.

groovemaaan, Tuesday, 30 March 2010 14:10 (fifteen years ago)

yeah that was the song that really got me following him as a producer, amazing track

forktongueclovenhoofu (some dude), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 14:15 (fifteen years ago)

I remember all the chatter about the "legitimacy" of "Days Go By."

I don't at all.

Please Do Not Swagga Jack Me (Matos W.K.), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 16:32 (fifteen years ago)

There was an essay in Slate, I think (maybe it was EW), and certainly internet message board nonsense about using a song so blatantly to push a product.

filling the medicare donut hole with the semen of liberal (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 16:35 (fifteen years ago)

Oh shit, I didn't even notice "I Told Y'all." That's my No. 2.

Please Do Not Swagga Jack Me (Matos W.K.), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 22:43 (fifteen years ago)

I voted Nelly, because it's the best party song on the list.

Davek (davek_00), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 22:45 (fifteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Wednesday, 31 March 2010 23:01 (fifteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

System, Thursday, 1 April 2010 23:01 (fifteen years ago)

ha, awesome tho I can't believe "Days Go By" didn't do better

british is happening (The Reverend), Thursday, 1 April 2010 23:03 (fifteen years ago)

yeah that song is so damn good

2 guys 1 jag (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 1 April 2010 23:06 (fifteen years ago)

this thread reminded me to listen to the new B. Rich album. it's pretty good! but none of his later indie stuff really sounds like "Whoa Now."

kind of feel 2002 ilx would be (rightfully) appalled at "Toxicity" tying for the top spot with "Grindin'." I love SOAD but imo their only good singles were the first ones off each album, everything after those usually sucked, "Toxicity" included.

naglguccistan (some dude), Friday, 2 April 2010 14:25 (fifteen years ago)
