just saying what's wrong with spring jams and/or waiting til summer. i've said this like every year that i've been on ilx, though, just upholding tradition really.

here's the thing -- since i grew up in miami, i have no concept of seasons, since it's always just hot. so now living out in the midwest, once it goes from cold -> warm i'm all AW YEAH IT'S SUMMER, SON even tho it's actually SPRING which didn't exist in my childhood. hence me starting this thread in april bcuz it was 85 degrees.

the spring jam is actually kinda distinct from the summer jam - giddier, full of exclamation marks that have been pent up all winter. imo mariah carey is pretty much the mistress of the spring jam - she has so many songs in her discography that are perfect for ~this weather right here~

the summer jam tends to be either full on banger à la "crazy in love"/sean paul singles or, for preference, that kind of totally airy, laidback, sun-scorched vibe exemplified in nina sky's "move ya body" or lumidee's "never leave you"

Oh sorry I was thinking of the flo rida/guetta collabo. derulo is kind of the R&B flo rida in my head - and both have done one song I actually really love ("in my head" and "in the ayer").

i've come around to 'i gotta feeling' soooo much since last summer. i remember making fun of people for having voted it into the top 10 in last year's poll but now i see the light. seems like they're still playing it just as much. would love if radio here played "lose my mind"

i like "birthday", "low" and "in the ayer" by flo rida but don't really have much time for him particularly

derulo is just...i like too many great male r&b singers to give a shit about someone who's boring-to-dreadful every time out in terms of both material and delivery. p much worthless.

derulo is my least favorite male r&b singer going right now -- all of his songs are shit, they all sound like complete ass, and ppl vouching for the imogen heap song are out of their minds
