OK how far down the list is London then?

Matt #2, Tuesday, 20 April 2010 09:41 (fifteen years ago)

Well, I'm on it, so fair comment I suppose (xp)

London was 26th, I think

I wd probably sing a lot if I moved out of Wakefield or Donnie tbf

Bone Thugs-n-Carmody (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 09:43 (fifteen years ago)

I can think of famous musicians from all of those towns except Wakefield and Doncaster

Is that your Ayrshire bacon? (Tom D.), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 09:45 (fifteen years ago)

I feel like I should've known Bill Nelson was from Wakefield, also Noel Gay, plus some lol indies.

Donnie has Lolslie Garrett, (loosely) Tony Christie and (loosely) John McLaughlin, apparently.

Bone Thugs-n-Carmody (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 09:49 (fifteen years ago)

Oh that's pretty good - Bill Nelson and John McLaughlin esp.

More musicians come from Wakefield (pop. 76,886) than London (pop. 7,556,900)? Are they sure?

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 20 April 2010 09:51 (fifteen years ago)

Proportionally, I imagine

Per capita maybe? xpost

Colonel Poo, Tuesday, 20 April 2010 09:52 (fifteen years ago)

Measured by place of birth rather than residence, also bollocks to London.

Bone Thugs-n-Carmody (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 09:52 (fifteen years ago)

This did the rounds a few weeks ago and seems to be entirely based on wilful misinterpretation so not really worth much attention tbqf

Maybe there's a really big maternity hospital in Wakefield.

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 20 April 2010 09:54 (fifteen years ago)

Of course, might be a lot of Working Men Club type cabaret acts in there as well as "LOL serious musicians"

Is that your Ayrshire bacon? (Tom D.), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 09:54 (fifteen years ago)

That's what I meant when I said a lot of the peeps on the database are probly rubbish, I'm picturing a lot of low quality pie and pea folk club strummers.

Bone Thugs-n-Carmody (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 09:55 (fifteen years ago)

It's all rock and roll to me

Is that your Ayrshire bacon? (Tom D.), Tuesday, 20 April 2010 09:56 (fifteen years ago)

I think it's proportional.

Also, there is a popular (Popular) Music course in Wakefield. I know loads of musicians who studied/live there. But then, if this is based on birthplace that can't explain it, which just makes it really strange.
