[almost a cliche, but] Lou Reed - the Bells
Neil Young - Trans
Bruce Springsteen - Devils & Dust
Rolling Stones - Steel Wheels

Oh, where to begin...

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Friday, 23 April 2010 21:04 (fifteen years ago)

Pavement - Terror Twilight

kelpolaris, Friday, 23 April 2010 21:28 (fifteen years ago)

That's my favorite Pavement album!

I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Friday, 23 April 2010 21:30 (fifteen years ago)

yeah, just when they started getting good they broke up.

scott seward, Friday, 23 April 2010 21:32 (fifteen years ago)

I like the edgier, earlier stuff... Slanted & Enchanted is my favorite.

kelpolaris, Friday, 23 April 2010 21:49 (fifteen years ago)

Morrissey- Kill Uncle

Bad Religion--No Substance, The New America
Slayer--God Hates Us All, Christ Illusion

Deicide--Stench of Redemption, Til Death Do Us Part
Ministry--Psalm 69

The Who - Who Are You

kornrulez6969, Saturday, 24 April 2010 00:42 (fifteen years ago)

Queen--Queen. I love classic Queen, and Queen 2 and beyond are amazing, but this one has always sounded tepid to me.

My Bloody Valentine- Loveless

SourPatchCorpse, Saturday, 24 April 2010 01:02 (fifteen years ago)

Queen: "The Game" and "Hot Space"
Madonna: "Erotica"
David Bowie: Both Tin Machine albums
Moody Blues: "The Magnificent Moodies"
Electric Soft Parade: "The American Adventure"
The Knife: "Tomorrow, In a Year"
Yes: "Talk"
Talk Talk: "Laughing Stock"
Beach Boys: Their entire 80s output

"Songs Of Faith And Devotion" is considerably weaker than all other Depeche Mode albums, but I wouldn't say I dislike it, as there are some great tracks on it and the album is generally OK. Just every disappointing compared with their usual output.

Wings: "Wild Life" and "Wings At The Speed Of Sound"

Funkadelic - 'Connections & Disconnections'

Which might just be one of the worst funk albums ever made.

So is this thread just "Good bands' bad albums"? Doesn't every band have these?

piping hot dish and a cup of chat (Stevie D), Saturday, 24 April 2010 02:15 (fifteen years ago)

I mean jeez, most of the bands I like have at least one album I do not love

piping hot dish and a cup of chat (Stevie D), Saturday, 24 April 2010 02:16 (fifteen years ago)

It's not about bands that you like.

Talking Heads - Speaking in Tongues (Much of it suffers under the brittle, clattering production; the songs come alive in "Stop Making Sense.")

Hideous Lump, Saturday, 24 April 2010 04:27 (fifteen years ago)

Agreed re. Speaking in Tongues and Queen's Hot Space, which was absolutely horrible.

Also, Ian Hunter - Short Back n Sides

ImprovSpirit, Sunday, 25 April 2010 02:40 (fifteen years ago)

Except for Naive Melody which is perfect

I find that "Speaking In Tongues" is completely OK. Don't like "Naked" much though.
