Worst rhyme ever, or just this year?

Also: chest hair, Madonna and so gangsta I'm so thug.

Also: Did they take out this guy's vocal cords and replace them with a rubber duckie, or what?

speaking of "young forever," whose has the more annoying voice: mr. hudson or the guy from muse?

fact checking cuz, Thursday, 29 April 2010 22:24 (fifteen years ago)

mr. hudson. muse dude doesn't particularly annoy me.

Gotta forgive them songwriters there. English is not their native language.

Btw. songwriter Espen Lind was inspired to write "Hey Soul Sister" when he had a surprise hit in Norway with this one a couple years ago.

three months pass...

From a recent Greil Marcus column:

(2) Train: “Hey, Soul Sister” (Sony). A perfect fan’s letter, with the high, light sound of someone madly in love with the idea of being in love. You can see the singer dancing in circles in his bedroom, waving his arms in the air. Could the soul sister who inspired this record make one half as good?

i didn't know what the phrase was after "hey soul sister" for the longest time (i assumed it was like "...must'a missed ya..." or just plain gibberish) until one of the little kids i worked with sang along to it last week. pretty retarded rhyme, sure, but this song is still great

k3vin k., Monday, 23 August 2010 02:02 (fifteen years ago)

are you also a huge fan of that james blunt song?

d4n, d4n, d4n (yaosah, yaosah, yaosah) (The Reverend), Monday, 23 August 2010 05:20 (fifteen years ago)

This is better than James Blunt, but you know, some people have this weird idea that the only purpose of music is dancing, and that it has no value if you cannot dance to it.

Tied Up In Geir (Geir Hongro), Monday, 23 August 2010 11:42 (fifteen years ago)

Right, but as was established above, you certainly can dance to "Hey, Soul Sister." In your bedroom, waving your arms in the air.

Whenever reviewers quote lines out of songs, they are almost always stupid, even when they're supposed to be trying to show how great the song is. Rock and pop lyrics are just stupid outside the context of the music. But that's okay. Here's an old one that had me giggling just like when I was 16: ""MTV get away from me...I say Music Television/Should be covered in jism."

Fastnbulbous, Monday, 23 August 2010 12:55 (fifteen years ago)

This is better than James Blunt

It's also marginally better than being stabbed in the face, but if you asked me which one I wanted right now, I'd actually have to think about it,.

Which, I guess, proves it works as a pop song. You know, outside the clubs and the "urban" inner city, that is....

Train's suckitude would be a trivial, inconsequential thing if not for the tremendous respect and OTT praise people close to me give them.
