Two albums is perfect.

part of my problem is that i don't like the canon/obscurity dichotomy -- arguably most records are neither, and only having records from either end of the spectrum threatens to be a lot more boring and ritualistic. even if people stayed faithful to that format, a third 'wild card' pick would liven things up a lot imo.

also IS there any autogoon mod? y'll probably have to ask the mods directly.

dear god i need to find something productive to do with this time

voted 2 because 3 albums is a lot to listen to in one week. i mean i listened to that lootpack like eight times last week, i listened to it today even, and every time was perfectly necessary. don't mind ditching canon/obscure since i haven't heard that many classic rap albums, but sharing obscure albums is sort of the point of a listening club no?

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

yeah obviously there should be obscure albums in the mix -- i'm just saying there should be room for middle ground, since it's really hard to say what's truly obscure and a lot of really popular or canonical albums could be obscure to one person or another. but i guess i have different ideas about these listening clubs, because i can't imagine having the time to listen to all the albums multiple times in the space of a week (and i don't have a job!).

ilx can only handle so much rap at once or there's no room for sleigh bells listening

Gifted Unlimited Display Names Universal (deej), Tuesday, 4 May 2010 02:30 (fifteen years ago)

no worries, we'll be starting up the Sleigh Bells listening club in a week's time

ksh, Tuesday, 4 May 2010 02:34 (fifteen years ago)

although we could start now w/ the demos & some YouTube videos

ksh, Tuesday, 4 May 2010 02:34 (fifteen years ago)

Do Sleigh Bells sound anything like Broken Bells? I've heard fuck all of either band and I imagine they're the same in my head.
