He was responsible for a couple amazing collections of '90s power pop (Powerbill, 1993, and Owsley, 1999) and collaborated with Ben Folds among others. Not a good followup to the death of Alex Chilton.

There are a bunch of Semantics songs in the related videos. In some alternate universe this would have been on the radio instead of God knows what else KROQ played when I was growing up.
The versions of the Powerbill tracks that later appeared on Owsley are almost pop-country. It's a weird combination of sounds and it's both peculiar and mainstream. I'd link "Good Old Days" but the YouTube version is sped up and plays at the wrong pitch.
