ratatat(n.1) and the hold steady were featured in a p4k column about 5 years ago for "bands to watch." the debut albums for both were given high marks by p4k, and then they separated a bit, with the hold steady getting consistently good ratings on albums 2 -- 3, and ratatat dropping back to mediocre ratings for albums 2 -- 3. but now their paths converge again, since the new discs for both bands received some of the harshest ratings from p4k i can recall for (relatively) high-profile releases (mid-5s).
signifying nothing, i guess, except i always think it's interesting to track an act's career arc.
