okay am I really voting for Maroon 5???

it means "EMOTIONAL"! (HI DERE), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 14:14 (fifteen years ago)

I adore "Good Life" and learned to like "Summer Love" after hearing it boom out of car radios.

I liked "Good Life" up until I saw the video; for some reason, out of the album's context, it just struck me as super-irritating.

this is a p good list -- i think i can do a top 10!

1 wake up call
2 upgrade u
3 good life
4 the way i are
5 bartender
6 like you'll never see me again
7 summer love
8 with you
9 shut up and drive

ok so maybe only a top 9

World B. FAP (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 14:22 (fifteen years ago)

Never heard the Keys, Furtado, or Chris Brown songs.

cool and remote like dancing girls (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 14:23 (fifteen years ago)

Wait, how could you NOT have heard the Chris Brown song???? In Boston, it was even more omnipresent than "Kiss Kiss" (I'm actually kind of shocked to see it on this list).

it means "EMOTIONAL"! (HI DERE), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 14:51 (fifteen years ago)

yeah this is a great list. in order, i still have a lot of time for:

the way i are
upgrade u
like you'll never see me again
clumsy
all good things (come to an end)
good life

i also had a lot of time for "with you" but i haven't got over the chris brown thing yet.

we never got "upgrade u" as a single (or "ring the alarm" wtf) - instead we had a shitty freemasons mix of "green light" :(

(btw I think this is fucking terrible)

"the way i are" remains my favourite song of the past decade that i literally have never had anything to say about. it's just...really good. fin.

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 14:53 (fifteen years ago)

lol I wonder how much of my ire at songs that sound like "With You"/"Irreplaceable" is because they aren't "Unpretty"

it means "EMOTIONAL"! (HI DERE), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 14:53 (fifteen years ago)

"Clumsy" is by far my favorite here, although I also like the Avril and Kanye and Alicia, and "All Good Things" is my challopy favorite single off the Furtado album. pretty indifferent to everything else, though.

ignotamus j. reilly (some dude), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 15:00 (fifteen years ago)

Wait, how could you NOT have heard the Chris Brown song???? In Boston, it was even more omnipresent than "Kiss Kiss" (I'm actually kind of shocked to see it on this list).

I may have, but I don't remember it. Besides, you know how radio stations aren't all synchronized. I only know the Maroon 5 song cuz I own the album (I may have heard it once on the radio).

cool and remote like dancing girls (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 15:05 (fifteen years ago)

haha they played "Wake Up Call" to death out here, too (difference being that I actually like that song)

it means "EMOTIONAL"! (HI DERE), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 15:10 (fifteen years ago)

"clumsy" is really underrated - i mean yeah it was the 94884th single off the dutchess but it's also such a neat pointer sisters pastiche. even the spoken word section is endearing. that album had such great singles - such a wildly varied bunch of songs, almost like the ferg was playing some kind of "i'm over here! no, wait - i'm over here!" game, reinventing herself every time out. reminded me a bit of xtina's stripped campaign in that sense.

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 15:17 (fifteen years ago)

i don't know if they were THAT varied -- "big girls" aside they all kinda fit into the same niche, great and musically distinct as those other 4 all are

ignotamus j. reilly (some dude), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 15:22 (fifteen years ago)

idk...obnoxious-retarded party-vomit (er in a good way) to '80s freestyle/electro to big ol' ballad to classy girl group pastiche seems pretty varied to me - esp as it entailed such a switch of image as well as music each time out

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 15:29 (fifteen years ago)

imo "London Bridge" and "Fergalicious" and "Glamorous" and "Clumsy" all pretty much translated to the public as obnoxious-retarded party-vomit, but go fig

ignotamus j. reilly (some dude), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 15:33 (fifteen years ago)

"Clumsy" is so great.

it means "EMOTIONAL"! (HI DERE), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 15:34 (fifteen years ago)

gah i forgot "glamorous" even though it's my favourite of the lot

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 15:37 (fifteen years ago)

glamorous is too good for a fergie song.

nevermind312, Wednesday, 5 May 2010 17:51 (fifteen years ago)

well it was originally a remix of a gwen stefani song (sort of)

World B. FAP (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 17:55 (fifteen years ago)

"clumsy" is pretty awesome too

World B. FAP (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 17:58 (fifteen years ago)

i think i've said this before -- but for the longest time, whenever "pretty wings" would come on the radio i would initially think it was "like you'll never see me again"

alicia's voice has this really restrained ethereal feel to it -- it's a nice look for her considering her usual belting -- remix w/ luda is really sweet too

World B. FAP (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 18:00 (fifteen years ago)

aside from the osama/obama rhyme of course

World B. FAP (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 5 May 2010 18:01 (fifteen years ago)

good list! I at least kinda like all of these except for Avril/Fergie/Soulja (which still had a great remix)/PWTs (don't know that one/Kingston

going for the Alicia song which has grown on me in a big way lately (after hearing Big KRIT rap over it)

you might be a goon but what's a goon to a viking? (The Reverend), Thursday, 6 May 2010 01:09 (fifteen years ago)

"Like You'll Never See Me Again" definitely seemed good and novel for her at the time, but "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart" has kind of rendered it irrelevant imo.

ignotamus j. reilly (some dude), Thursday, 6 May 2010 02:08 (fifteen years ago)

both of those are v good songs but I think I ultimately prefer the former

moderator requiem forum (The Reverend), Thursday, 6 May 2010 02:09 (fifteen years ago)

yeah both of those are awesome -- "try sleeping with a broken heart" has a bit of a different feel tho imo

World B. FAP (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 6 May 2010 02:16 (fifteen years ago)

clumsy
when you're gone
shut up and drive
good life
like you'll never see me again

had serious trouble choosing among these. also loved 'the way i are' at the time but can't stomach it so much now after having heard it so much on the radio. ended up voting for alicia b/c the track was the biggest improvement relative to 'no one' which i still hate

teledyldonix, Thursday, 6 May 2010 05:31 (fifteen years ago)

ayo rev which krit track is a rap over the alicia joint

World B. FAP (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 6 May 2010 05:33 (fifteen years ago)

"Fuck Action"

moderator requiem forum (The Reverend), Thursday, 6 May 2010 05:44 (fifteen years ago)

there are a lot of great tracks in here, but I'm a sucker for ballads and am going with "With You" for its guitar sound, sweet vocals, killer chorus, and its hearts all over the world...

interesting, i thought "The Way I Are" would take this. like "Good Life" better, though, so works for me.
