Haven't seen anything about this new project from Colin Newman of Wire, which also features Malka Spigel and Max Franken (of Minimal Compact) and Robin Rimbaud (Scanner). Discovered this while poking around after the ILX Wire covers project.
Haven't heard a lot of this yet...have heard the first half of the album Landing, which seems to be about taking a riff/groove and then repeating and exploring it...maybe somewhere between the simpler chugga bits of Wire and stuff like Can or Neu maybe. Doesn't seem as threatening as Wire can be at its most jagged. Not sure if it qualifies as mainstream, though it definitely strikes me as being generally more pleasant. But then I'm just starting to absorb it.
Anyone else checked this out? Thoughts?

"Art Pop" is their best outing, though "Landing" isn't far behind. Both are much better than the debut EP and LP.

Malka has a new digital-only EP out, "Gliding": http://www.mayanewman.com/ - it's terrific dream-pop a-la Githead, with Colin's sound all over it.
Her solo album from a couple of years ago, "Every Day Is Like The First Day", is equally great.
