Best Track On Flaming Lips THE SOFT BULLETIN

This has always been my favorite Flaming Lips album, and I figured this would make a good first real poll for me. So many great tracks, and textures, and even though it is more streamlined, it still retains plenty of quirkiness. Plus the internal digs on "Spiderbite Song" are pretty humorous (if you have the US version).

This is really really hard. "Buggin'" is just beautiful but "Waitin' for a Superman" always tugged hard on my heartstrings, maybe because I'm a comics nerd and so the idea of the messianic Superman trying his best to save us all but just not being able to do it is full of pathos and drama for me.

The Flaming Lips - The Soft POLL-etin

ciderpress, Sunday, 9 May 2010 19:09 (fifteen years ago)

God this is a great record all the way through though. Probably holds up best of any of the big turn-of-the-millenium instant-classic rock records.

The Gash! ELO & Queen kickin it with Led Zeppelin's rhythm section. Only way WAY more nuts.

Voted "Suddenly" mainly for the "Driving home the sky accelerates" part which is so much magic, and feels like a direct current from Clouds-era lips. But really it's a tie between that and "Spoonful" "The Spark That Bled" "Spiderbite" "The Gash".
