Mexico, camp, horns, Zappa, Mr. Bungle (Matos W.K.), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 06:04 (fifteen years ago)

damn, a lot of good shit is gonna get vanquished by justin

1 cry me a river (obv the best but i'm gonna throw something else a vote)
2 made you look (JUST SAY THE TITTIES IS OUT)
3 gossip folks
4 no one knows
5 sick of being lonely (really loved this back then)

i fuck w/ other stuff like "thug holiday" & "lifestyles of the rich and famous" & "hypnotize" but those first 5 are kind of in a class of their own imo

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 11 May 2010 06:05 (fifteen years ago)

between JT & Nas, w/ Missy, Trick & Amerie on the outside looking in

jagger edge (The Reverend), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 06:49 (fifteen years ago)

JT & nas obv, i'll even throw that pac ballad some love

sveltko (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 06:54 (fifteen years ago)

damn, one of those that's a lot harder than it looks at first. these are all contenders...

Amerie - Talkin' to Me - it's allll about the remix w/foxy brown, "miss cutie cute and you knows her a rudegyal"
Avril Lavigne - I'm With You - easily my favourite avril song, just an epic melody
Ja Rule ft. Ashanti - Mesmerize - pretty much every ja rule/ashanti single from this era codes as "summer bliss" to me
Justin Timberlake - Cry Me a River
Kylie Minogue - Come Into My World - all about the fischerspooner remix! memories of electroclash dancefloors
L.L. Cool J ft. Amerie - Paradise
Missy Elliott ft. Ludacris - Gossip Folks - LOVED the bit where she sounds exactly like a car swerving on hot tarmac
Nas - Made You Look
Queens of the Stone Age - No One Knows - think this might be the last male-fronted rock song i genuinely loved

gonna vote either amerie or missy i think

"Mesmerized" is the nadir of Ja Rule

jagger edge (The Reverend), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 07:39 (fifteen years ago)

gossip folks

Ralph Nadir (crüt), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 07:50 (fifteen years ago)

call me crazy but i always liked "Mesmerize" way more than the Ja/Ashanti songs that were actually popular. also it's not even the worst soft batch R&B rap song here because... Common featuring Mary J. Blige "Come Close" lyrics poll

cozen frustard (some dude), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 08:10 (fifteen years ago)

"Come Close" is lame but "Mesmerize" is 100% intolerable (and was iirc a pretty big hit)

jagger edge (The Reverend), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 08:12 (fifteen years ago)

yeah i know it was 'popular' but i mean it was the one people really rallied around hating whereas "Always On Time" is imo absolutely horrible and was just ubiquitous for a whole year

cozen frustard (some dude), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 08:15 (fifteen years ago)

yeah, "always on time" is their super insipid collabo

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 11 May 2010 08:15 (fifteen years ago)

I never like "Always on Time" but it seemed much more ignorable to me

jagger edge (The Reverend), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 08:17 (fifteen years ago)

liked*

jagger edge (The Reverend), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 08:17 (fifteen years ago)

we've been here before btw

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 11 May 2010 08:17 (fifteen years ago)

wow, "Mesmerize" is totally the low point, at least before he faded into irrelevance

"Mesmerize" >> all other Ja/Ashanti duets (although they both did better songs apart)

sorry, but it really is one of my least favorite songs ever :/

i'm not saying "Mesmerize" is great (wouldn't even be in my top 5 here), i'm just saying "Always On Time" is fucking awful

it's almost like the one year anniversary of that exact conversation

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 11 May 2010 08:18 (fifteen years ago)

haha I do not remember having that convo at all

jagger edge (The Reverend), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 08:19 (fifteen years ago)

lol

cozen frustard (some dude), Tuesday, 11 May 2010 08:20 (fifteen years ago)

gossip folks - winner
i'm with you - warmed up to it eventually
cry me a river - would like more if it weren't so overrated
come into my world - feel like this one got the dance recording grammy almost out of pity since either of kylie's two previous singles could easily have taken it but didn't (i know dirty vegas was a reasonably worthy winner, but come on)

overall this is when i started not liking pop for a while

teledyldonix, Tuesday, 11 May 2010 08:48 (fifteen years ago)

<challop> "Cry Me A River" is by far my least favorite of the Justified singles, not a bad song but I've always been kind of indifferent to it </challop>

Jordan York (some dude), Friday, 14 May 2010 04:17 (fifteen years ago)

All of the Justified singles are at least 9/10 to me, so identifying one as "worst" would totally be splitting hairs.

i am giving you the viking of compliments (The Reverend), Friday, 14 May 2010 08:42 (fifteen years ago)
