I think it is pretty wonderful that due to de interwebs, I'm able to make new discoveries even from quite a while back. The record that set me off on this reverie was the self-titled Relatively Clean Rivers LP from 1970. Its not a mind-blower or anything like that, but its a nice listen in a sorta warped Dead-ish manner. I was reasonably hip to the obscurities of the era like Linn County & Illinois Speed Press, but this one was brand new to me 40 years after its release. I'd like to go on record as saying I think that's tres cool. Carry on...

And the guy's son is on the most wanted list and is a terrorist or whatever, but he looks like he'd be in a folk group.

Thanks for the info re. Beat of the Earth & Electronic Hole. I found out that the three bands were related & was curious.
During this same moment of discovery from the past I also stumbled upon Suck! and Shiver. The Suck! LP 'Time to Suck!' is an interesting platter with covers of Grand Funk, Deep Purple & Black Sabbath [among others] done in a raunchy garage-wah-screech fashion. Their interpretations are interesting.
The disc 'San Francisco's Shiver' really has me all a-twitter. This is some serious guitar mangling skronkblast with Blue Cheer & Hendrix [and dare I say Rallizes?] overtones recorded live to 2-track in an appropriately primitive fashion. Sonic paint remover, not for audiophiles.
Again: cool.

so cool

I'm probably in the minority, but I always liked Suck's cover of "War Pigs" - it's pretty rare to hear Sabbath covers from back then* and the fact that they change the sound a little bit is neat.
* Others I can think of:Los Nuevos Shain's "Wicked World"Flower Travellin' Band "Black Sabbath"Iron Claw did "War Pigs" but they somehow heard it when it was still called "Walpurgis" and did it that way, with the different lyrics!

Agreed. The version of 'War Pigs' is well done. The covers were fairly current when Suck did this record which harkened back to early-mid '60s bands covering Stones tunes before they had dropped off the charts. But in this case it was King Crimson & stuff.
Flaming Lips & Chan Marshall did an epic version of 'War Pigs' on Austin City Limits. I grinned.

Music IS cool, but mostly you should keep that to yourself. Nobody else gives a shit.

Thanks to Ironside [I mean henri] for answering the all-important question posed by kelpolaris.
Please keep in mind that this is all a bit tongue-in-cheek since most people here obviously really like music. Sadly, the other side of the coin - going on at great length about how horrible something is - seems to be very fashionable & folks seem to think that Everybody gives a shit about that.
I say emphasize the positive. :-)
