I just wish he hadn't adopted the "ilxor" moniker (ilxor), Saturday, 22 May 2010 15:14 (sixteen years ago)

man I don't know how I'm gonna vote in the end, a few years back it would have been hit 'em up no questions asked, but the last two years for me have been all about the sadder 'Pac songs. "Life Goes On" gets me every time now even though I have always disliked the saying "life goes on." And "Changes," which I didn't care about when it was new, now strikes me as one of the best political/social-message tunes ever - the grain in his voice, the conviction & the anger & the mourning & the harshness of it - "it's time to fight back, that's what Huey said/two shots in the dark, now Huey's dead" - I mean, Jesus, that whole opening blast of is just devastating. seems to get richer for me every year.

"it's time to fight back, that's what Huey said/two shots in the dark, now Huey's dead"

^^^that lines always gets me

I am totally with you on being completely lost at where to begin

The Reverend, Saturday, 22 May 2010 15:35 (sixteen years ago)

"hail mary" -- no particular reason.

keine Macht für dich mehr! (Eisbaer), Sunday, 23 May 2010 14:49 (sixteen years ago)

torn between "Keep Ya Head Up" and "I Get Around," maybe "Hail Mary" and "If My Homie Calls" too. always thought about doing this poll but w/o "California Love" as an option just because i'll be annoyed if/when it wins by a landslide.

every night i tell myself i am the custos, i am the wind. (some dude), Sunday, 23 May 2010 15:06 (sixteen years ago)

saw I Get Around, voted without even looking at the rest tbh.

tart w/ a heart (a hoy hoy), Sunday, 23 May 2010 15:33 (sixteen years ago)

glad i get around is getting much love, it was an impetus for making this poll cuz i recently heard it out at a bar & it holds up so dam well

johnny crunch, Sunday, 23 May 2010 15:41 (sixteen years ago)

I feel sorry for non-west coast peeps who probably don't hear "I Get Around" and "How Do You Want It" on the radio all the time, cause those are pretty much two of the best radio jams ever.

The Reverend, Sunday, 23 May 2010 16:31 (sixteen years ago)

those are probably the two Pac songs i hear on east coast radio the most (although not nearly as much as a dozen diff't Biggie songs)

every night i tell myself i am the custos, i am the wind. (some dude), Sunday, 23 May 2010 16:34 (sixteen years ago)

add "hey mama" and "california love," and yes those are the 2Pac songs that get played most over here on the East Coast.

keine Macht für dich mehr! (Eisbaer), Sunday, 23 May 2010 16:37 (sixteen years ago)

"DEAR mama," duh :-O

keine Macht für dich mehr! (Eisbaer), Sunday, 23 May 2010 16:37 (sixteen years ago)

do they play more of the pre-Death Row records on the West Coast than they do over here? genuine question.

keine Macht für dich mehr! (Eisbaer), Sunday, 23 May 2010 16:42 (sixteen years ago)

probably, "I Get Around", "Keep Ya Head Up", & "Dear Mama" are on the radio all the time. Occasionally "Temptations" or "So Many Tearz". Never really hear anything from the first album, though. (+ like a third of All Eyez on Me, obv.)

Only Biggie you here on the radio out here is "Juicy", "Big Poppa", "One More Chance", "Hypnotize", and "Mo Money, Mo Problems". What else do you hear out east?

The Reverend, Sunday, 23 May 2010 16:47 (sixteen years ago)

Runnin'. Although, I'd prefer to listen to 'Only God Can Judge Me'.

And when it really comes down to it, I'd sooner watch him dancing in a leotard to Digital Underground.

Duran (Doran), Sunday, 23 May 2010 16:49 (sixteen years ago)

mix show/club DJs play a lot of "Dreams," "Who Shot Ya," "Warning," "Dead Wrong," the big Junior Mafia and Puffy songs he was on, the 112 and Total features

voted "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted" just for the hell of it, with a side of

Picture perfect, I paint a perfect picture
Bombin' hoochies with precision, my intention's to get richer
With the S-N-double-O-P Dogg, my fuckin' homie
You's a cold-ass nigga on them hoes

which is pretty much my favorite rhymes to randomly bust out ever

The Reverend, Sunday, 23 May 2010 17:27 (sixteen years ago)

Motherfuck the rest, two of the best from the westside

The Reverend, Sunday, 23 May 2010 17:30 (sixteen years ago)

stealth candidate for me is "california love" 'cause if you grew up in california & have heard that song on a radio while out of the country it will make you go FUCK YEAH quicker than pretty much anything

in which we apologize for sobering up (underrated aerosmith albums I have loved), Sunday, 23 May 2010 17:32 (sixteen years ago)

"california love" is a massively classic song

mr. milquetoast (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 23 May 2010 17:37 (sixteen years ago)

i also vote for "how do u want it" tho

mr. milquetoast (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 23 May 2010 17:37 (sixteen years ago)

2pac's sex rhymes diminished a lot for me by the sexual assault conviction

So tough to choose this one, but finally settled on California Love, solely cos every time it came on in the pool hall I would suddenly play awesomely

Bill E, Wednesday, 26 May 2010 23:11 (sixteen years ago)

was "can't c me" seriously not a single??????????????? fuck.

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Wednesday, 26 May 2010 23:30 (sixteen years ago)

stealth candidate for me is "california love"

haha i love the idea that this contemporary standard is a stealth candidate

"how do u want it", i think. but seriously "can't c me" is def my fav pac and somehow i never knew it wasn't a single all these years?

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Wednesday, 26 May 2010 23:32 (sixteen years ago)

you don't really like can't c me better than everything else on that list

I mean I love can't c me but c'mon

in which we apologize for sobering up (underrated aerosmith albums I have loved), Thursday, 27 May 2010 00:13 (sixteen years ago)

heard "changes" on the radio the other day. this part hit me unexpectedly hard:

Instead of war on poverty they got a war on drugs so the police can bother me

original bgm, Thursday, 27 May 2010 14:25 (sixteen years ago)

so hard to pick between "Dear Mama," "So Many Tears," "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted," or "California Love" for me.

would also seriously consider "How Do U Want It" if it weren't for the depressing one-two punch of pac's conviction and k-ci's abusive relationship w/MJB.

original bgm, Thursday, 27 May 2010 14:34 (sixteen years ago)

gonna go with Hit Em Up

because for all the diss songs recorded, there are like maybe less than 10 i think are actually great songs, and i treasure them

m@tt (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 27 May 2010 15:22 (sixteen years ago)

one of the reasons I've always love "How Do U Want It" is cause Pac was probably the only dude ever who could call out a politician on some unrelated bullshit in the middle of a sex jam and not only make it sound not corny, but absolutely correct

i don't care if big daddy kane signed your mommas tits (The Reverend), Thursday, 27 May 2010 15:36 (sixteen years ago)
