Eurovision 2010 - Semi-Final #2, Thursday 27th May

This year really is shit, isn't it? Best here are Romania, Slovenia, Lithuania and Switzerland.

Although there were some good songs in yesterday's 1st semi, I think that the 2nd is generally a better group. Except for the Netherlands' toothless rehash of "Ding-A-Dong".

There's a bit less gratuitous violins, more pop ballads, and Turkey have another solid entry.

Yeah, yesterday wasn't any better (though Russia and Serbia are my #1 and #2 for the contest). The general standard is way below recent years, and mostly I'm just disappointed that my favourite countries (Ukraine, France, Bosnia, Azerbaijan) have failed to come up with anything interesting.

... would be my guesses if they're all performed about as well as each other. Romania = best.

I'd have been better off not trying to predict this one. Wall-to-wall power ballads and inoffensive jangle then. Go Romania!

Sweden out of the final for the first time since 1958 is actually worth noting.
Personally I think this was among the better Swedish entries though, so I don't see why.

I really liked the Swedish entry - a real change from the opera diva kind of act that they'd sent the previous two years. Even though it might not seems it now, it's a big shake up for Sweden.

I thought it was bobbins, but there you go.

I liked Lithuania - InCulto, "Eastern European Funk" , which is always a surefire indicator of teh fail (I remember liking "Mata Hari" back in the day, one of those "lol last place" tracks they showed last night)

I voted for Lithuania, but alas it was too interesting.

Lithuania was all about clothes, not music.

Well, it's not as if the final is already full of silver short shorts...I wouldn't have voted for it in other years, but I expected the qualifiers would be overhomogeneous and that makes for a bad show. I also wanted Slovenia and the Netherlands to go through for the same reason, but that was never likely.
