In New York City on a cool Sunday morning the day turns disastrous for a 21 year old musician, Nicholas Blossom when he falls from a balcony. The musician then lands with his head stuck into a spiked medal fence.

The fall for Blossom occurred around 4 a.m. while he was drunk at a party (and probably acting stupidly). The fest occurred Manhattan in a neighborhood called Chelsea. Nicholas Blossom’s head was impaled in the fence after he landed head first from the 3rd floor balcony on the fence of another building’s second floor balcony.

According to Daily Mail News, ‘police said he sat alone screaming that he 'hated everybody' before falling one storey onto a fence, which was attached to the second-floor balcony of the adjacent apartment building.’

It took an electric saw and a lot of delicate work to free Blossom’s head from the fence. After the rescue efforts, he was immediately taken to Bellevue Hospital and as of this afternoon he is in stable condition. Blossom is a membre of the rock band Alaska Alaska.

Curious minds want to know if impaling your head on a fence sobers you up after a night of drinking and partying? I mean coffee doesn’t work! I hope the guy learns that being that drunk leads to nothing good in your life. And I wish him well in his future career in Alaska Alaska. Awesome drums!

ugh this reminds me of my early internet days when I found a pic of a guy who had done pretty much the exact same thing as this guy but had decapitated himself in the process

Kevin: [Picks up hat.] You know I can't wear this. I've got a spike through my head.

Bruce: No you don't.

Kevin: Yes. I've got a spike through my head. I've accepted it. Why can't you? I've got a spike through my head, a spike through my head, spike through my head, a spike through my head, a spike through my head! It's hard to look at, isn't it? Look at it. Read it. It says 'Pennsylvania Steel'. Yes I know I should be dead. Yes, the doctors say I'm a freak of nature. But there's one thing I *do* know damn it! I'm alive, and I love you.

The young Brooklyn musician whose head was impaled on a steel fence after he fell from a balcony finally was able to sleep Sunday - a day after surviving the bizarre accident, his mother said.

Nicholas Blossom, 26, a rock drummer who lives in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, was cut away from the fence by rescue workers early Saturday morning after plummeting from a Chelsea balcony during a party.

Surgeons at Bellevue Hospital removed the rod that was still stuck in his head.

"Yesterday, they did not want him to go to sleep, so he was in a lot of pain, but they upped his medication today because they decided he'd improved enough that he can sleep today," said his mother, Emily Blossom, from her home in Berkeley, Calif. "He'll be in the ICU for a week."

She said her husband, Eric, who flew to New York immediately after the incident, holds the phone up to Nicholas' ear, allowing them to have short conversations.

Nicholas was in stable condition Sunday in Bellevue's intensive care unit.

"It's hard, but we have been really impressed with the care he's been getting in New York City. People have really been there for him," his mother said.

It sounds to me from this article like his head was actually impaled.

Impaling your head on a fence seems to age you five years.
