do you want separate totals for crimes against coherence and crimes against grammar, or an aggregate?

Age: 20

scott seward, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 15:31 (fifteen years ago)

20 is the new 14 these days. i don't think you are even considered an adult anymore until you are 40.

scott seward, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 15:32 (fifteen years ago)

I'm just lolling at the spelling in the URL itself.

Scott OTM, we are nearing a neotenic culture in re: indie music writing.

Other than trying to work out if 'cult fallowing' is a typo I can't really see what elevates this for derision over a trillion other nobodies with blogspot opinions4u out there

taqsim for Gaffney (DJ Mencap), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 15:52 (fifteen years ago)

I guess I don't read many of these, then. I was literally shocked when I read this review. It reads like a hysterical Facebook status update by an illiterate.

If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 21:15 (fifteen years ago)

literally cannot believe that a piece of writing on a blog is misspelled

max, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 21:22 (fifteen years ago)

i am going to craft a strongly-worded email to the blogger and CC the new york times

This isn't great. I wasn't much of a fan of their first album. They sound like a . And I can't stand Ezra Koenig's voice, so that doesn't help.

ksh, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 21:25 (fifteen years ago)

i am going to email all 6 of his followers and let them know that they are following a blog that had grammatical errors

max, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 21:25 (fifteen years ago)

max, you sound like a .

also LOL!:

It's not easy for me to admit that this album is flat and uninspired and they're one of my favorite bands.

eh who cares? not a big leap from the reviews you might find on f0xyd1g1tal1$

kumar the bavarian, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 21:28 (fifteen years ago)

bageled by dementeds (HI DERE), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 21:29 (fifteen years ago)

weird cover on that album... car very un-totaled... maybe it's a shot from an 80s movie i never saw.

kumar the bavarian, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 21:32 (fifteen years ago)

On Burial's Untrue: "If you've recently caught on the dubstep wave, check this out for something deeper. This is great layered electronic music. This is IDM at it's finest in my opinion. Highly recommended."

Now I know almost nothing about electronic music, but does Burial have fuck all to do with IDM?

2004 was the year of "rock" with Greenday's foray into the spotlight with American Idiot, and Linkin Park's Meteora. The later end of decade was a little more modern to the times. Chili Peppers returned with Stadium Archadium. I still remember the day I went out to buy that (probably because I bought The MArs Volta's 3rd on the same day). 2007 was more Avril and Linkin Park.

2008 was pretty recent right? Wrong. It was the beginning of the cheap bubblegum hip hop of t-pain, T.I. and Young Jeezy.

ksh, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 21:34 (fifteen years ago)

This is not to mention all of the "buzz ballad bands" like 3 Doors Down, Stained and Lifehouse. And people used to actually listen to this shit. Fuck as far as I know people still do, knowing that Miley Cyrus is constantly number one on itunes.

Lets hope for a better decade.

ksh, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 21:35 (fifteen years ago)

The early '00 were the worst. What were you listening to in 2000? Britney Spears probably.

Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra

It's easy to write a pop song. It's mindless to follow structure. However it is not simple to create beautiful and emotional music that goes where it wants to. Each song is a novel of sound. Silver Mt. Zion is a unique post rock band. You give a lot to the listener that others don't. They don't rely on unbearable amounts of distortion, they don't give you cheesy made up words as their lyrics, there's no sweepingly ultra emotional crescendos, and they're by no means ambient. It's a dark, heavy and extremely organic, earthy sound. The only thing plugged into the wall is the one guitar, everything else is a sting instrument.

OH GOD MAKE IT STOP
