EGG for lots of potential reasons but i just love procession too much to not vote for it. the string synth throughout is one of my favourite sounds of all time

Gotta pick Temptation (12" Version), although I do prefer the Substance version more. Still, "Temptation" is the greatest song ever.

this very, very tough. much harder to pick than the album songs. going to listen first before voting but can't see voting for anything other than "Everything's Gone Green."

"Temptation," but its attendant B-sides range from awesome ("Procession") to merely excellent ("Mesh"), to say nothing of the original version of "Ceremony."

Tough one for me, I love it all. Have to go with "Temptation" 12" version tho - still use it as a 'go-to' track to get a dance floor going & it works every time. Can't quite get my head around the Substance version really, I've heard the original so often it's like it's hardwired into my brain - Substance version just seems kinda 'wrong'.

CD2 meaning '2008 Collector's Edition bonus disc'.

I voted for the rerecording of "Ceremony" (what I take #1 to be here) over the "Temptation" 12"; I'd vote for the Substance Temptation over anything here; as we talked about on the Temptation poll thread some time back, people seem to favor the version they got to know first, which is the case for me. But "Ceremony": what a perfect title, for one thing. And another: its elegant construction, each element entering one at a time, like a ceremony: when I hear it I see in my mind's eye the band members looking at other, making contact again, together.

Procession - never really listened to Substance CD2 and hence was first really 'introduced' to this via the Recycle blog, and played it on repeat oh I dunno a kajillion times. electricsound otm about the synth washes - such perfect backgrounding. I'm sure in the end we'll count the two ceremony votecounts as one, same with temptation.

i agree, procession, it is pretty much the apex for me, it sits very comfortably between the jd/movement era and what came later.

also, was it ever determined that ryko actually released decent versons of these cds, or did everyone just turn to the blog?

So difficult, but Ceremony (original version) for me. Still majestic and moving.

Well, if one day I see this deluxe edition inFop, I might well.

I didn't rate the first album, but that extra CD (for once) more than makes up for it.

Sure I heard some dumbed down version of Ceremony in a TV ad the other day. Almost made me change my ringtone.

No. 1 Ceremony is the same version as on Substance, right? If so, it's almost impossible for me to choose between that and EGG.

Might have to listen to Procession again, because of what was written above. This is hard.

I won't vote for Temptation. I prefer the Substance version. It's the one I first fell for.

The original 12" version of Temptation is probably my favourite song ever, but Hurt is a worthy B-side. The crummy production actually makes me love the song even more.

Yes i believe they did indeed issue replacement/corrected versions.
P.S. voted og ceremony as i hadn't heard it until these reissues came out and was not at all dissapointed. 2nd would be procession for sure.

When I saw the thread title I immediately thought "Hurt"! but after I clicked and remembered EGG was on here it had to be that.

i don't own this, so i selfishly posted this CD via You Tube. i do love the 12" version of "Temptation" but like others have said in this thread, the Substance version is the one i have fallen in love with most. it came down to "Ceremony (original version)" and "Everything's Gone Green." Green is my favorite color.

don't get me wrong, i do love the song just didn't expect it to come out on top.

I'm more surprised at the low placing for "In A Lonely Place"; thought that was a certain lock for 3rd or 4th.
