Am I right in thinking this is one of the most dire volumes of the series in quite a long time? (I know I say that about every other time one of these comes out, but look at this shit...)

Basically everything after Usher is a complete wash.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 15 June 2010 16:49 (fifteen years ago)

obv never heard of the last four? have record labels started putting really new artists on the ends of these to try and break hits? i assume so

anyway

1 rude boy
2 baby
3 omg
4 winner
5 imma be

rude boy & baby are total bangers -- omg is great for a totally ubiquitous radio song in 2010 -- winner is decent enough & imma be sounded cool in a bar

Youve Beenexposed (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 15 June 2010 16:50 (fifteen years ago)

Although, in a given state (drunk and handsy), I could get into that Temper Trap song if a cute girl was dancing to it.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 15 June 2010 16:50 (fifteen years ago)

None of you have heard the Miranda Lambert song? Seriously? It's the best thing here after Luda's bit in "Baby."

Filmmaker, Author, Radio Host Stephen Baldwin (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 15 June 2010 16:52 (fifteen years ago)

"Rude Boy" easily

nakhchivan. nakhchivan. nakhchivan i wanna rock ya (The Reverend), Tuesday, 15 June 2010 16:55 (fifteen years ago)

1. "rude boy"
2. middling lambert single that i never quite got into
3. decent BEP workout that only remains non-annoying because it was non-ubiquitous
4. luda/minaj alternating between awfulness and adequacy

the end

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Tuesday, 15 June 2010 17:08 (fifteen years ago)

lol am I the only person here who likes that song by The Script

voting "Imma Be" just because everyone else is voting "Rude Boy" and I don't want to see BEP shut out

Damn these skinny jeans' pockets. (HI DERE), Tuesday, 15 June 2010 17:11 (fifteen years ago)

"The House That Built Me" is one of the best singles of the year.

groovemaaan, Tuesday, 15 June 2010 17:15 (fifteen years ago)

decent BEP workout that only remains non-annoying because it was non-ubiquitous

Same planet, different worlds (re: Imma Be's ubiquity).

kkvgz, Tuesday, 15 June 2010 17:16 (fifteen years ago)

I guess I should give that Miranda Lambert song a spin sometime soon-ish?

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 15 June 2010 17:18 (fifteen years ago)

Sooner than soon.

Filmmaker, Author, Radio Host Stephen Baldwin (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 15 June 2010 18:33 (fifteen years ago)

One day I will have heard 0% of the songs on a Now! poll. Here it's just the Rihanna and BEP, obv I need to crawl even further back into my cave.

seandalai, Tuesday, 15 June 2010 18:57 (fifteen years ago)

"Imma Be" is oddly pretty much the first BEP single ever to get heavy rotation on hip hop stations, so i'm REALLY sick of it

some dude, Tuesday, 15 June 2010 19:11 (fifteen years ago)

I dunno about that. Obviously it varies by locale, but the rap station in Seattle has been playing them since "Joints & Jams". It hasn't picked up on all their hits, but given at least "Where Is the Love"/"My Humps"/"Boom Boom Pow"/"I Gotta Feeling" blanket play.

nakhchivan. nakhchivan. nakhchivan i wanna rock ya (The Reverend), Tuesday, 15 June 2010 19:34 (fifteen years ago)

I haven't heard the BEP track but assume it's better than the rest of that...let's just call it stuff.

skip, Tuesday, 15 June 2010 20:27 (fifteen years ago)

i'm talking mainly in chart terms, Rev -- "Imma Be" peaked at #12 on the Hip Hop/R&B chart, but nothing else got higher than the 30s before, not "Joints & Jams," not "My Humps," not the earlier The E.N.D. hits. but also anecdotally, the only BEP song I've heard a LOT on the local stations.

Mr. Srehtism (some dude), Tuesday, 15 June 2010 20:46 (fifteen years ago)

Fwiw, the rap station in Seattle reports to the rhythmic chart, where BEP have done fairly well, rather than the r&b chart (I've never quite understood the distinction, it seems more regional than anything).

nakhchivan. nakhchivan. nakhchivan i wanna rock ya (The Reverend), Tuesday, 15 June 2010 21:03 (fifteen years ago)

yeah i don't really understand the whole rhythmic chart thing.

Mr. Srehtism (some dude), Tuesday, 15 June 2010 21:21 (fifteen years ago)

Looking at their current playlist, they don't seem to be playing "Imma Be" (maybe they did in the past though? no idea) or "Rock That Body" at all.

nakhchivan. nakhchivan. nakhchivan i wanna rock ya (The Reverend), Tuesday, 15 June 2010 21:30 (fifteen years ago)

miranda lambert's song is far and away the best on this. then there are some other good ones (rude boy, etc.) and then some real shit (winner, etc.)

teledyldonix, Wednesday, 16 June 2010 03:41 (fifteen years ago)

:( I like "Winner"

nakhchivan. nakhchivan. nakhchivan i wanna rock ya (The Reverend), Wednesday, 16 June 2010 03:43 (fifteen years ago)

You know, I couldn't hum one of these except for the awful Bieber tune. I am officially out of touch.

rhythm fixated member (chap), Wednesday, 16 June 2010 10:48 (fifteen years ago)

Is this album good?

billstevejim, Thursday, 17 June 2010 05:03 (fifteen years ago)

i like "winner" more i hear it -- the beat is really cool, even for a fairly generic marching band beat

Youve Beenexposed (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 17 June 2010 05:13 (fifteen years ago)

I like the little unexpected changeup before T.I.'s verse.

Tavarius Polk (The Reverend), Thursday, 17 June 2010 05:27 (fifteen years ago)

I never thought I'd end up voting for BEPs.

rim this, fuck that (Eric H.), Thursday, 17 June 2010 05:31 (fifteen years ago)

"Rude Boy," then Miranda. Everything else, more or less = yikes.

Mexico, camp, horns, Zappa, Mr. Bungle (Matos W.K.), Thursday, 17 June 2010 05:36 (fifteen years ago)

The Black Eyed Peas cut is OK, but basically I was looking for a 'none of the above' option here.

ImprovSpirit, Thursday, 17 June 2010 15:26 (fifteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

6 of you are begging to be up against the wall, you realize this right

HI DERE, Monday, 21 June 2010 23:53 (fourteen years ago)

Baby is really dope imo, just good teenpop stuff

kaká flocká flame (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 22 June 2010 00:11 (fourteen years ago)

but...did you vote for it over "Rude Boy"?

neal page (some dude), Tuesday, 22 June 2010 01:02 (fourteen years ago)

no i did not

i was the "my chick bad" voter of course

kaká flocká flame (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 22 June 2010 02:20 (fourteen years ago)

Rude Boy is like musical ambien.

ô_o (Nicole), Tuesday, 22 June 2010 03:04 (fourteen years ago)

Wish I'd seen this, would've voted for Miranda Lambert. I really don't understand the love for "Rude Boy"; it starts great and then it on and on and on without doing anything.

None of you have heard the Miranda Lambert song? Seriously? It's the best thing here after Luda's bit in "Baby."

― Filmmaker, Author, Radio Host Stephen Baldwin (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, June 15, 2010 12:52 PM (1 week ago) Bookmark

This doesn't compute. Even Luda laughs with embarrassment before starting, like "I can't believe I'm gonna say this shit."

I want to thank my psychiatrist (billy), Wednesday, 23 June 2010 01:12 (fourteen years ago)

imo "Rude Boy" is probably Rihanna's best vocal ever, so many little variations in inflection and interesting choices where before she'd kind of be a foghorn though the whole damn song

neal page (some dude), Wednesday, 23 June 2010 01:17 (fourteen years ago)

"Rude Boy" isn't brilliant or anything, but it's a fine slice of tropical sunshine pop and most of these songs suck.

The Reverend, Wednesday, 23 June 2010 04:30 (fourteen years ago)

lol foghorn

ripe dick clark (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 23 June 2010 04:31 (fourteen years ago)

Fuck Bieber and Ke$ha supporters. The B.o.B featuring Bruno Mars skit is way better than those two songs.

Moka, Wednesday, 23 June 2010 06:03 (fourteen years ago)

Come to think of it any song in here is better than those two. Yes even Lifehouse!

Moka, Wednesday, 23 June 2010 06:04 (fourteen years ago)

my most embarrassing pop opinion of the moment is that i think the lifehouse song is not bad -.-
