Another Fall POll. O.K so there's no easy way of doing this- its impossible etc but I'm going to have a go. Everyday its a new song/ its impossible/ This is a dirty great farce you've left off my favourite song... are realistic options here.
Also with different versions of songs, Peel Sessions etc just choose the song for its best form.

It's "Wings". Also we've done this. Also it's stupid.

Higuain in the Membrane (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 19 June 2010 00:19 (fifteen years ago)

Quite similar line-up to a 2-cdr attempt to explain The Fall I made for a friend. Nicely done!

bendy, Saturday, 19 June 2010 00:47 (fifteen years ago)

WHERE'S 4 1/2 INCH YOU TIT

Mark Ronson: "Led Zeppelin were responsible for hip-hop" (acoleuthic), Saturday, 19 June 2010 01:21 (fifteen years ago)

fine I'm voting Gross Chapel - British Grenadiers but STILL. god

also some of these choices are never in 5 zillion years the best one

Mark Ronson: "Led Zeppelin were responsible for hip-hop" (acoleuthic), Saturday, 19 June 2010 01:23 (fifteen years ago)

by definition

Higuain in the Membrane (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 19 June 2010 01:25 (fifteen years ago)

no bulbs. 12 inch version. is probably my favorite. i feel unworthy in its presence. could start a church devoted to it.

scott seward, Saturday, 19 June 2010 01:26 (fifteen years ago)

church of murky flatness

Higuain in the Membrane (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 19 June 2010 01:27 (fifteen years ago)

Biggest Chapel Yet

Higuain in the Membrane (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 19 June 2010 01:27 (fifteen years ago)

has their been a best cover version by the Fall poll yet?

Brio, Saturday, 19 June 2010 01:35 (fifteen years ago)

^^^this would be a better poll

Mark Ronson: "Led Zeppelin were responsible for hip-hop" (acoleuthic), Saturday, 19 June 2010 01:38 (fifteen years ago)

Mark Ronson: "Led Zeppelin were responsible for hip-hop" (acoleuthic), Saturday, 19 June 2010 01:40 (fifteen years ago)

I got to vote for the one Fall song I like! Woo hoo.

EZ Snappin, Saturday, 19 June 2010 01:48 (fifteen years ago)

am now wondering whether I wouldn't have voted for Bonkers In Phoenix had it been an option

ah well

Mark Ronson: "Led Zeppelin were responsible for hip-hop" (acoleuthic), Saturday, 19 June 2010 01:56 (fifteen years ago)

i'm going hip priest, maybe that's corny to full-on heads but i still love it

Brio, Saturday, 19 June 2010 01:58 (fifteen years ago)

that video snuck onto tv somehow somewhere when I was in high school & i thought The Fall was synonymous with sexy girls for a long time after, little did i know

Brio, Saturday, 19 June 2010 02:01 (fifteen years ago)

I'll go with Hip Priest. Initially I thought Weather Report #2 was the standout track from the new one, but have since drifted in the direction of Bury Pts. 1&3 which kind of reminds me of what I loved about Wonderful & Frightening World era Fall, but tighter and more direct.

dlp9001, Saturday, 19 June 2010 02:09 (fifteen years ago)

Right now I'm leaning towards "How I Wrote Elastic Man" - but there are some close runners-up.

o. nate, Saturday, 19 June 2010 02:51 (fifteen years ago)

For me, the list lacks their defining moment, New Puritan (peel session) and their most mysterious moment Iceland. I would probably want to see No Xmas for John Quays in there somewhere too.

Dr X O'Skeleton, Saturday, 19 June 2010 09:35 (fifteen years ago)

moullet, Saturday, 19 June 2010 09:42 (fifteen years ago)

Can't be bothered to think about choosing favourite songs but this seems as good a place as any, it being the current Fall thread, to post this from the Fall website -

The Fall recorded a session for Mike Joyce's Coalition Chart Show at Blueprint Studios in Manchester on 16 June, and it was broadcast on eastvillageradio.com yesterday (17 June), with chat from MES and Mike interspersed between the tracks. It's well worth a listen. You can hear the two-hour show on the show's webpage, or download the Fall bit here.

tracks: Mexico Wax Solvent (Part 1) / Hungry Freaks Daddy / Over! Over! / Von Sudenfed - Rhinohead (from CD)
/ Mexico Wax Solvent (Part 2)

Haven't listened yet, because I'm at work, but I'm v much looking forward to doing so.

Michael B, Saturday, 19 June 2010 13:34 (fifteen years ago)

'Wings' if only for the guitar riff that sounds like some fucked up Santana.

righteousmaelstrom, Monday, 28 June 2010 22:19 (fifteen years ago)

...garden

69, Monday, 28 June 2010 22:26 (fifteen years ago)

Impossible to decide...

but

'Tempo House' is the only one I've ever felt compelled to go onto slsk and get as many versions as possible of and then listen to them all back to back.

A Picture Where Dorian's Gay (S-), Tuesday, 29 June 2010 03:09 (fifteen years ago)

I don't understand why people like Hit the North. It's catchy but compared to almost everything else sounds very dated.
