In 1983, BOSS put out the HC-2 handclapper synthesizer. All it does is make handclapping sounds. Does this prove that handclaps are the undisputed champions, or does this make fingerclicking the underground favorite because no corporation cottoned on to its power? I can't decide.

All early house = handclaps, so I think the claps win.

whoever wins has to face the awesome power of the FINGERCHIMES!!

Aaron - the 'Claptrap' existed before this - 79/80 I think - can't remember who made it though.

Handclaps, without doubt. But only if they are REAL, and not those godawful synthesized Roland TR-505 claptrap (as heard all over that bloody Fisherspooner song) which should be BLASTED OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH AS AN ABOMINATION!

Hank Ballard settled this one: it's finger poppin' time!

I think it was Simmonds - their first product, before the abominable electronic drum kits.

Yay! More arbitrary synth info to file into my brain! Of course, it won't be arbitrary when I can actually afford some synths, which I would be able to do if I could stop buying records with great handclaps...

Real handclaps are the most ridiculous things EVAH! You can get much better sounding electronic handclaps but no you want to record them. If it is to be real, the finger is the way to go

i'm sick of handclaps. i wish more people would use fingersnaps. handclaps god everyone pulls out that tired cliche of *clapclap - clap, clapclap - clap!* you know the one i mean, shit i'd probably like handclaps a lot more if people were more imaginative with them. but thank you for inspiring me to experiment with snapping my fingers.
