That's from their 2005 live record, Kicking Television: Live in Chicago.

ksh, Saturday, 26 June 2010 00:04 (fourteen years ago)

(For what it's worth, I'm note sure if I've ever heard the original of that song. Or, if I have, if I listened to all of it.)

ksh, Saturday, 26 June 2010 00:05 (fourteen years ago)

hm. i like wilco. also: your blaring sirens are most convincing. i'd better give this more thought.

Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 26 June 2010 00:05 (fourteen years ago)

you guys have obviously never seen the Vulgar Boatmen

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOJ1lDHhv84

From the "Distant Relative" release show at Second Story in beautiful downtown Bloomington, the Vulgar Boatmen rip through a medley of the Velvet Underground's "Foggy Notion", the Stooges' "No Fun", their own "Margaret Says" and the Sex Pistols' "EMI". Dale Lawrence: vocals/guitar, Matt Speake: guitar, Jake Smith: bass/backing vocals, Andy Richards: drums. (Very beginning of the video is missing, but don't worry, the Boatmen show up at about the 0:45 mark...)

Yes! the Vulgar Boatmen are the greatest band. I'm hoping this will someday see the light of day...

why . . . so . . . serious?

Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 26 June 2010 16:12 (fourteen years ago)

what does "NB" mean anyway? IMHO i see that "internet acronym" everywhere IIRC.

Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 26 June 2010 16:13 (fourteen years ago)

It's not an internet acronym, it's academic. Means 'pay attention' basically, from some Latin phrase I guess.

rhythm fixated member (chap), Saturday, 26 June 2010 16:17 (fourteen years ago)

so much shouting.

also: thank you chap.

Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 26 June 2010 16:29 (fourteen years ago)

my confusion arose from seeing an academic phrase in one of l0uis' posts.

Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 26 June 2010 16:30 (fourteen years ago)

Thin White Rope, maybe because they covered a lot of my favourite songs.

Marco Damiani, Saturday, 26 June 2010 16:31 (fourteen years ago)

Metallagher, the Metallica cover band fronted by a Gallagher impersonator.

Greatest band that did a lot of great covers: The Clash

Killdozer! Bongwater!

grandavis, Sunday, 27 June 2010 16:27 (fourteen years ago)

Phish is beast of a motherfucking cover band. Not only for the showmanship they brought to their stunt covers, like their Halloween shows (White Album, Dark Side of the Moon, Quadrophrenia) or 99 Problems, but for the songs that were a regular part of their repetoire and they just made 'em their own.

Metallagher's biggest coup might have been opening for the actual Gallagher at a metal club in St. Paul last year (Station 4, formerly Ryan's).
